Tuesday headlines: Spencer Fisher out, Kenny Florian in

A new edition of Total MMA is now available.
Mauro Ranallo is not a fan of what Vince McMahon said yesterday. Mauro is also not a fan of what the CSAC appeals ruling was for James Toney, either.
Spencer Fisher is not going to fight Din Thomas on 9/19 due to a staph infection. There’s a report claiming that Kenny Florian will take Fisher’s place.
Lots of camp movement these days. Fabricio Werdum is considering joining Chute Boxe and Diego Sanchez has apparently left Greg Jackson’s camp in New Mexico.

Is anyone even left at Chute Boxe Curitiba anymore? I presume Rudimar is recruiting Werdum to take Schembri’s place as BJJ coach but it seems like Werdum would be joining a pretty bare bones organization (with regards to elite fighters) as rumors have Ninja and Shogun moving to LA to restart Chute Boxe USA and Silva leaving the team entirely to join Couture in Vegas.
I guess they do have Sak and Dida in HERO’s, but that hardly seems like any kind of consolation prize. If all his extensive training with Cro Cop only produced a bunch of sissy slaps against Arlovski, I can only imagine the depths to which Werdum will underachieve with Chute Boxe.
From the Long Beach Press-Telegram article, this is Sean Sherk’s attorney Howard Jacobs:
“this recent positive test was a very low level of steroids.”
That is false. From a U.K. Channel 4 story on nandrolone, quoting no less than the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency (keep in mind that Sherk’s levels of nandrolone were 12 ng/ml):
“Olympic laboratories, tasked with ensuring that their tests are fair as well as effective, have researched natural nandrolone production regularly over the past quarter-century, the most recent study being conducted at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.
There, of 621 competitors tested after competition, only five produced results where their nandrolone levels exceeded 0.1 nanograms per millilitre of urine (ng/ml).All five were women. The levels in women are marginally higher, as a result of a different hormonal make-up and use of the contraceptive pill. But the levels are still minimal. Nobody in the Nagano tests exceeded 0.4ng/ml.
This just served to confirm the IOC’s cut-off levels – a doping-control speed limit, where anything above 2ng/ml in men or 5ng/ml in women is regarded as an offence. Basic arithmetic suggests that the IOC scientists have set themselves a generous margin for error – 2ng/ml being 20 times what might be regarded as a “normal” level of nandrolone in men. So can there really be any doubt at all when someone registers over 2ng/ml of nandrolone that it is not the result of endogenous production? When Linford Christie tested positive for nandrolone in Dortmund in February 1999, it is reported that the levels found in his sample were more than 200 ng/ml – or roughly 2,000 times above the estimated natural levels.
“From what I understand, the medical data shows the only way you can go above the 2ng/ml level is by ingesting the drug,” says Dick Pound, the Canadian lawyer who as the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, is the world’s leading anti-doping official. “You can eat boar’s testicles all week and not reach that level.”

I would love to see Sherk’s lawyer try a boar’s testicle defense.
Good thing Diego left Jackson’s. He is about to be choked out by Fitch and the Jackson camp can’t afford another loss.
So where does the Jackson camp go from here? Diego was really there marquee name- a camp consisting of Rashad, Marquardt, and Jardine is much less impressive, especially with all three of them coming off losses. Is this a temporary move for Diego, or is the camp going to slowly slide into obscurity?
Rollo the Cat is correct about the Fitch/Diego outcome.
It was reported on the Stephen Quadros show (according to a few posts on the Sherdog forums), that Paulo Filho was sick before his fight with Joe Doerkson. He even puked 4 times close to fight time.
The WEC Salaries are interesting for a few reasons:
1. Not all of the contracts are structured like previous contracts. Both Filho & Doerkson had higher guaranteed money and less of a win bonus.
2. Paulo Filho is making $50,000 for each win. At 3 fights a year, that is $150,000 a year. That is a fantastic payday for a relatively unknown fighter to the US Market.
3. Carlos Condit will obviously be worth more money once he signs his next contract. But $26,000 isn’t too bad. That is the same amount Jake Shields got for his last victory in June.

Well a few more wins and people will be right back on the bandwagon. Problem is, I don’t see Jardine winning his fight with Chuck and Garcia is gonna be finished in the 2nd round against Miller. It may get worse before it gets better.
Florian in for Fisher? This is bad. That is going to throw him off the normal cool down/ramp up schedule for a fight and is going to throw off his game. I like Florian and would hate to see him run out when he is not ready. They need to give him every opportunity to be at his best as he is really gaining traction with fans in my mind.
can anybody find any report suggesting that silva left chutboxe?
his picture is still on their website and sine the LA chutboxe is such an apparent decale right now it makes sence that he would seek out an established gyme to train in while he is in the states
I wasn’t aware that Silva was leaving Chute Boxe. I thought he was moving to the US to help expand the brand and along with that was going to be training with Randy…but in no way leaving the team.
Wandy has not left Chute Boxe. He plans on opening a new branch of Chute Boxe.
Chute Boxe (Brazil) is no long affiliated with Chute Boxe USA, probably do to poor communication (I can’t count the number of times that Rudimar was pissed off at the US site for posting stuff that was incorrect).
