Sunday news special
By Zach Arnold | March 3, 2007
I hear that Randy Couture guy is really popular right now.
News and comments from Loretta Hunt on WOL radio (I’m using this link because it’s simpler than me typing the comments out). Here’s the audio. I wanted to highlight one point she made – the point being that she doesn’t think PRIDE will sell. Like I’ve said time and time again countlessly, usually Japanese organizations don’t sell but rather die. When Antonio Inoki sold New Japan to Yukes, that was the exception to the rule. Why? Because Yukes came out and basically admitted that they had to clean up a giant rat-infested business in NJ that they didn’t see coming when they bought the company in the first place.

I forgot K-1 was on today. But I never payed attention to it anyways…I did however caught some action…..Choi Hong-Man rapping and dressing as a rapper poser ON HIS WAY TO THE RING is a sight to behold!!!!!1111111
All of a sudden i’m not so eager to see Mirko CroCop fight for the heavyweight belt 🙁 🙁 🙁 I fear for Captain America
The K-1 card is all that. Hari and Sawayashiki > all.
today’s K-1 was good in years..
I think it’s safe to assume that Mike Casey does not care for MMA.
the 7 points from that link from Loreta Hunt’s interview:
1-Pride 34 is being called kamikazi cause Prides in a life and death situation. And that Kamikazi also means attack according to Sakibara.
— WE ALREADY KNEW IT WAS CALLED KAMIKAZI
2-Pride 34 will take place at 1PM in Japan so that it can air live at 8PM in America. Loretta Hunt thinks its to little to late.
— NOT TRUE, THE UFC IS AIRING AT THAT TIME
3-Fishman and Sakibara had a falling out. The April US show is off.
— ALREADY REPORTED ON TWO OTHER WEB SITES, NOT NEW
4-She doesn’t think Pride can even sell Pride at this point, its in real bad shape.
— NOT NEW
5-HBO is still a possibility for the UFC UK show.
— NOT NEW
6-HBO/UFC’s major hurdle is who controls the broadcast.
— NOT NEW AND IT WAS JUST ON MMA WEEKLY AND WRESTLING OBSERVER
7-Loretta is writing Randy Coutures autobiography.
— JOY!
Harold – it’s entirely possible that PRIDE could, on a separate PPV channel, go head-to-head against UFC 69. It would be monumentally stupid to do, but it’s entirely conceivable. And a 1 PM JST start for an event in Japan is not going to be very appealing to the public over there.
I thought there events normally start in afternoon hours in Japan
