Can Renzo tag in Almeida? That would be the boss.
STAND UP WARNING GRAPHICS
HAHAHAHAHAHA
royal. Yeah fight network is on rogers and I have bell, which sucks.
Zach:
I’ll mark out if Frank says (after he wins, assuming he does): “To a nicer guy, it couldn’t happen.”
Renzo Gracie vs. Frank Shamrock
Round 1
Glove touch. Frank comes out and lands 2-3 hard low kicks and then Renzo charges in and clinchs Frank along the cage. Frank throws a few shots to the back of the head and then Renzo takes him to the canvas. Renzo moves from the half guard to the side mount. Frank tries to buck off the cage but he fails. Frank throws a few knees from the bottom while Renzo works from the top. Frank attempts to explode out against but it doesn’t work. The fight is stood up because of the stand up “warning”. Frank lands a great low kick. Gets in a right left combo. Renzo throws a jab. Renzo shoots but fails. Shamrock hits him with a knee overhand right. Frank follows that up same combo. Renzo then charges in and takes Frank to the canvas. They battle on the canvas with Renzo in the half guard. Renzo gets free and moves to the side mount. Shamrock continues to throw the odd knee from the bottom. The crowd chants “Stand up! Stand Up!” Renzo continues to work from the top landing a few elbows. Renzo ends the round with two rights and then the horn blasts.
“I’ll mark out if Frank says (after he wins, assuming he does): “To a nicer guy, it couldn’t happen.â€
Buddy wouldn’t have gotten tooled on the ground for five minutes by Renzo. Mark it.
Ralph with the white powder! Ralph with the white powder!!
There is actually a stand-up graphic? Oh, that is bad for the sport.
And from the descriptions of the first round and the first part of the second round…. Frank Shamrock still has no takedown defense. And Renzo has pretty bad shots typically.
SCREWJOB.
Shammy landed knee to the head on teh ground. This could be it.
…
Wow.
Renzo took two knees to the head and he is hurt. The knees were on the ground. The ref takes a point from Shamrock. Renzo can barely get off the canvas. He has five minutes to recover.
Frank Shamrock and EXC? Good for the sport.
Renzo being given 5 minutes to recover. He’s in the middle of next week though. Renzo had sidemount and Frank kneed him twice in the head.
Jordan:
Logically, if Frank is Buddy, he should be making Renzo crotch himself against the ropes (in this case, cage) and then get quick pin (submission or KO) out of nowhere for the cheap win.
Renzo is that dizzy? if he can’t continue, then Frank loses.
Frank should know the rules.
“Frank should know the rules. ”
In case you didn’t notice, the rules do not apply to Franky J. Shams, my brother.
Fight is over. They’re putting a neck brace on Renzo. Sucky end. Renzo was dominating Frank.
Critic, you’re not even watching the fight. WTF are you talking about. 2 cheap shots by Frank.
Good point Jordan.
I haven’t seen the fight, but the fact that Shamrock has been taken down so many times by Renzo is a bad thing for him. When I saw Renzo at the last IFL event, he looked absolutely horrible. Frank, if he is even Top 20 in the world, should be tooling on him.
Renzo can’t continue…
Frank? Top 20 in the world? How could a sane individual hypothesize such a thing?
And, Herb just owned Shams.
DQ. Renzo wins.
Frank Shamrock is making heel faces to the camera.
Now he’s cutting a heel promo. MMA needs nothing more from any of the Shamrocks.
This has to hurt Shamrock and Elite XC big time.
Frank Shamrock is old school. He comes to fight. I can only imagine his reaction if Renzo headbutted him in the mouth.
Kudos to the fans for not selling Shamrock’s lame “I’m old school I came here to fight” promo.
A heel Frank vs. a babyface Renzo re-match… hmm…
Perhaps Frank Shamrock vs. Gilbert Yvel or ‘Dirty’ Bob Schrijber will happen at an upcoming event?
I can hear the Sherdogger’s demanding a rematch as we speak….
130 replies… you sure carry a conversation, Jordan. 🙂
Work alert. Setting up the rematch. Caesar Gracie on the mic. Herb Dean explaining the rules to the fans.
Too bad, everything else on the card was excellent.
Someone tell me when the onslaught of online retardedness over the Unified Rules needing knees on the ground arrives. I’d like to pull the plug on my PC just beforehand.
Like I have said, I did not watch the event. Just commenting on the reports I am seeing online.
For the people watching this event on Showtime, I have 2 quick questions.
1. How was the last fight handled on the telecast?
2. Did the Renzo/Frank fight leave a bad taste in your mouth of the event due to the outcome?
“Renzo deserves an acadamy award for that performance.”
I’d pay anything to see GSP vs Shamrock. Student avenging his master. If you’re going to work this stuff, at least gimme that.
I have much sympathy for Herb Dean, who always seems to find the spotlight on him.
Jordan,
I have already seen more than 1 fan blaming the UFC for Frank’s loss. Too funny!!
Shamrock should’ve been like “If there’s anyone man enough back there to challenge me, step up”. Then Hellwig should’ve ran out, gorilla pressed him, hit the splash, and took the strap. I think it would’ve lended an level of credibility.
Frank Sham’s girlfriend was just on camera telling Frank, “He pussied out.” Critic, I think that ought to answer your “taste in your mouth” question.
Yeah, Renzo pussied out hard. He was desperate to get out of a fight with a guy who had zero takedown defense and couldn’t stop him from passing to side control.
Herb Dean is Wyatt Earp to Frank Shamrock’s Bob Fitzsimmons, damnit! He was screwed!
😉
Ugh.
The camera crew and an interviewer are outside Renzo’s door. They’re not going in because the doctor is in there. Vince should be taking notes on this.
I’m in a bad mood now. That just ruined everything.
Thanks Mr. Roadblock.
In a weird way, I wish I ordered Showtime just for the month to see this fiasco. I love train wrecks. I actually predicted this event would be a train wreck. From almost all reports, it sounded like i was dead wrong until the main event, and then magically my prediction become true. All luck on my part.
Red meat time from Sherdog boards:
“I love train wrecks. I actually predicted this event would be a train wreck. From almost all reports, it sounded like i was dead wrong until the main event.”
Dead wrong? Between Shaw’s reject kid running around through the prelims acting like a K-Fed clone, Krazy Horse smashing KJ Noons, and David Loiseau getting a duffel bag full of cash to throw a couple kicks and fall asleep, there was tons of hilarity all along the way.
It replays tomorrow at 8pm Eastern.
Every other fight was very good though.
I wonder if Shaw will bring in Andrew Golota to corner Frank Shamrock for his next fight…
“I say acting. He was scared to get stood back up, Frank was landing some heavy shots.”
-_-
