Who gives a shit about Kawamura/Kanehara? Fucking Shoji is facing Yuji Hoshino. Shoji is all that.

  2. PizzaChef says:

What does Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection have to with MMA?

  3. PizzaChef says:

Oh wait…..Now I see it…..they labeled the game as “ultimate fighting” -.-; Stupid cunts.

  4. Ivan Trembow says:

It looks like that upon first glance, but I don’t think that’s what Namco intended. They always refer to the Tekken franchise as the “best” fighting game franchise or the “most complete” fighting game franchise, or some other adjective, and in this case they are saying that it’s the “ultimate” fighting game franchise. I’m sure they would get a legal notice if they used that phrase in an advertisement, though, because Zuffa trademarked the words “ultimate fighting” (then again, Zuffa also trademarked the word “submission,” so it’s not like everything that is trademarked is enforceable).

Also, lol at Bill Goldberg saying that he has “legitimacy.” He was never good at pro wrestling and has never competed in MMA. There appear to be a lot of Goldberg marks in powerful positions who were apparently watching WCW in 1998 (but not 1999, 2000, or 2001).

Hey guys. Thanks for the link.

Just letting you know that I switched formats. Nothing against WP, it’s just that some things I can do with Blogger, I couldn’t do with WP.

    Plus, I’m broke.

    Here’s the new link.

  6. ukiro says:

So, are we getting mirko – andrei at UFC70? I’d much rather have than than mirko – cheick, but then again UFC might want to maintain andrei’s market value a bit longer by not risking him against mirko. Also, cheick’s last performance was so horrible they may opt to sacrifice him to mirko since their attempts at hyping him up fell flat.

  7. mr1000Cent says:

Tekken 5?!?! World crippled by slow news day? I guess it’s cool that that game is going on a $700 system, but IMO, I can spend $700 on something better. I could get front row UFC tickets, and still have money left over :D.

  8. Stu says:

I bet he didn’t mean ultimate fighting series as in UFC ultimate fighting, more like as in the greatest fight series.

  9. It’s most likely going to be Arlovski-Congo. No word yet on Mirko’s opponent, and I’m having a hard time thinking of who they can use unless they bring in a free agent. God knows they’ve ditched more talent from their HW division then they have now :-p

  10. Dedwyre says:

They could probably try to save Arlovski vs. Cro Cop until after Cro Cop wins the title. Then Arlovski can go for the belt again without having to risk another borefest with Sylvia. They might as well feed guys like Congo and Carmelo Merrero to the Eastern Europeans until then. I dunno.

  11. Ben says:

The guy doing this radio interview with St. Pierre is an idiot.

  12. JOSH says:

I would think Congo/Mirko is a better match up as both are willing to strike from their kickboxing backgrounds.. May even get a Mirko highkick KO reel.

  13. mr1000Cent says:

Heck, with the money left over for not buying a PS3, I would most definitely pay $40 to see a Congo/CroCop match up :D.

  14. JOSH says:

    lol@Mr1000cents

  15. The MMA Critic says:

I agree that Arlovski vs. Cro Cop is being held off until it is a title fight. It is the only way to give Andrei another title shot. However, I actually think Sylvia will beat Cro Cop, and that Arlvoski/Cro Cop will happen after that in a 3-round fight. If Arlovski vs. Kongo is true, it should be a fun fight to watch.

Did anybody listen to The Savage Dog show today? It isn’t exactly good radio, and I don’t think I will be listening to their show again (just so boring). However, the interview with Mario Lopez was interesting. He talked about being such a big MMA fan. Then they asked him what his favorite fight was…. And then he started talking about how the crazy fights from back in the day were his favorites. It kind of reminded me from the scene in Office Space where they asked Michael what his favorite Michael Bolton songs were. And he basically just said all of them because he really didn’t have a legit answer.

A few other questions kind of tipped it off too. I really question how much of a fan AC Slater is. He is no Joe Rogan, that is for sure.

  16. The MMA Critic says:

As for the latest Fight Opinion Radio Show….

Thank god my job is boring enough that I have time to listen to it between 9-5. The shows are so darn long.

I enjoyed the first segment about Eddie Goldman’s comments. I still don’t agree with what some of the hosts said, but I think they did a pretty solid job at covering Goldman’s rant on the UFC. I guess hardcore fight fans are never going to agree on every little topic anyways. I can’t remember the last time I agreed with one person over at the Sherdog forums…..

One point I thought was fantastic was about how Showtimes entry into MMA really isn’t going to effect the MMA too much. Showtime has only about 15 Million subscribers. And people I know that subscribe to HBO have it because they love HBO. Most people I know who have Showtime, have every single premium channel, and barely watch Showtime. So I don’t think this show is going to have a big enough audience…. Nor a good enough card, to really do much. I’m still ordering Showtime for just a month just to see the first event. Then I am canceling it and getting HBO to get ready for The Sopranos and then the UFC.

Count your lucky stars – the show could have been 4 hours if it wasn’t for editing. I was not thrilled about the length. 🙂

  18. chrisfu says:

“Raw brutality” of the UFC? Wow. Was this a comment from a christian group? Thanks to the writer of this article regarding ‘New Era Fighting’ for attempting to set the sport of MMA back to 1993. Grab a brain.
    Love, Chris Fu.

  19. JOSH says:

Critic u think Sylvia will beat Crocop???? Man guess we are going to have to argue this one again…..

How will Ogre Sylvia beat Crocop when he can barely handle the kicks from Arvloski, and IMO I doubt Sylvia will have the skills to KO Mirko. Mirko is a trained Kickboxer while Slyvia is just a slugger with the height and reach advanatge but no solid skills. I have yet to see him beat anyone (except for Arvloski) in a way to show that he is a dominant fighter. Im sooo confidant Im willing to even put money on this fight with u.

  20. Tomer Chen says:

I wonder if UFC will toss Jake O’Brien into Cro Cop’s left high kick to ‘reward’ him for his pretty awful (in terms of watchability) win over Heath Herring and to give another ‘I took the 0 in the ‘L’ column!’ win for Cro Cop. If not, here’s the only guys that can really be considered as potential opponents for Cro Cop that are somewhat ‘worthy’ (in terms of their W/L record in the UFC): Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo, Antoni Hardonk and Christian Wellisch (maybe). Don’t think Arlovski will be considered in anything other than a title fight and I have no idea if Brandon Vera is still under contract/obligated to fight anyone in the UFC still to set up as a ‘superfight’ title eliminator.

  21. JThue says:

I wouldn’t bet on anyone against Sylvia, except perhaps Fedor and Antonio Silva. If Randleman can KO Cro Cop, so can Timmy. Cro Cop will be the favorite going in(vs. Sylvia), but no more than 65-35 in my book, and the size difference is such a huge wildcard that I wouldn’t bet against it.

IFL moving to Mohegan Sun – Good. I’m also glad to see they’ll be on TV so soon.

That K-1 schedule does not list the (set for ages now)May 4th Bellagio show. Announced WORLD MAX & HERO’s shows aren’t listed either.

EliteXC’s card is the best debut-show card in years, and certainly beats out the UFC 67-lineup. Looking forward to it, and hope the undercard streams aren’t limited to US-IP’s. Also, take note that they have five live fights scheduled for two hours, meaning PRIDE-pacing. Thumbs up. Lopez’ true MMA-knowledge will become clear as the sky on Saturday.

  22. Tomer Chen says:

As for the Calvin Ayre thing, I’m sure he could ‘support’ George W. Bush’s presidency and get himself a pardon, just like Marc Rich did on Bill Clinton’s final day in office.

  23. Zach Arnold says:

The K-1 shows listed are the ‘traditional’ K-1 shows. I didn’t list any of the MAX shows (because there are some dates in California or Nevada yet to be finalized).

  24. JOSH says:

Granted Mirko got KO by Randleman but that was a lucky punch (granted almost as lucky as Sylvia KOing Arvloski BUT in the 3rd fight Arvloski played a better game and Sylvia didnt knock him out) BUT I doubt Mirko will do that when he dethroens Sylvia. Mirko will play it smart from the start and take out Sylvia’s legs and then hit the head and become the new champ.

As for the K-1 schedule, yea its really different then the norm along with the fact that there is going to be a HW and now a SHW title (match will be between Schilt and Sefo…im psyched for Sefo!!!) so K- 1 is shaking things up.

  25. Zack says:

“If Randleman can KO Cro Cop, so can Timmy.”

Cro Cop has also been stopped 3 times in K-1, by Hoost, MacDonald, & Bernardo if I remember right. Sylvia’s striking isn’t close to those guys level. Neither is Randlemans. Randleman KO’d Cro Cop because Cro Cop was looking for the shot. You would never have that same scenario with Sylvia because he’s not an explosive takedown guy. That punch from Randleman would’ve knocked out a bear, or maybe even put Mark Hunt on the mat for a 5 count. Styles make fights. Sylvia won’t beat Randleman.

On another note…I really enjoyed the radio show this week. It’s been really good for about the last 5 shows now, in my opinion.

I could use some new music for the show, with limited or no vocals. Help a brother out.

  27. Dedwyre says:

I want Cro Cop to beat Sylvia as much as the next guy, but I could see Sylvia winning their fight. I don’t know if he’d get a knockout, as he never actually tries to be too offensive these days; he just defends well enough to get a decision. But I could see him somehow taking Cro Cop down and laying and praying. I hope that doesn’t happen. For whatever reason, I like the idea of all the UFC champions being foreigners (Sherk could lose to Franca…I doubt anyone will beat Liddell, though).

  28. Zack says:

    Zach…I’ll work on some stuff.
