Anyone wants to guess which fight will take the new Co-Main Event spot? The Rampage one or the Cro Cop one?
Another link that you may find noteworthy: The latest MMAWeekly Rankings were released today and posted at http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=3207&zoneid=13
And once again, a Quote of the Month candidate from the FoxSports.com article: “Korff doesn’t see mixed martial arts as too dissimilar to NFL football. “This is just another offshoot of a violent sport. If we saw what some of the guys in the NFL do without their helmets on, I bet there are a fair number of fingers being stuck in places they don’t belong. This isn’t far from that.””
I’m betting Jackson/Eastman will be the new co-headliner. But the real question is: When will Serra/St Pierre go? If I was the UFC i’d slot it into UFN9 or 10 … the TUF4 and UFN8 ratings were pretty shitty compared to the past and honestly the Serra match isn’t worth being a headlining match on PPV. So I guess we’ll see how much important the UFC puts on hitting hot ratings with Spike, and if their red hot February and March cards are gonna leave them low on talent for April’s PPV.
Regarding the UFCJunkie.com issue, it’s definitely not a splog (spam blog) — if that were the case, then it would be copying the UFC Junkie text verbatim instead of changing the words around. Also, it’s a B5Media blog, which is one of the bigger blog networks. They’re known for not having original material and tend to do this same sort of thing across their network — they find a popular subject and start a blog about it, but rewrite other popuar blog posts instead of having, you know, an original thought on the subject.
Zach, if you ever need someone to design a new custom WordPress theme for Fight Opinion, let me know.
St. Pierre news just BLOWS…
Not that Serra actually has much of a chance…
That PPV will still be okay because of the other fights. But I’m with Fightlinker. That one fight isn’t a headline fight.
Sievert’s post is funny. He’s claiming all these things as his scoops, but the Liddell finger thing was reported by Fox right after the show, everyone already knows about Mirko, the Wrestling Observer already reported UFC going to Houston and Sean Sherk’s injury was big news about two months ago.
Aoki is the #6 Lightweight in the most recent MMAWeekly Rankings.
