  1. MMA T-Shirts says:

Big news on that Cro Cop pic! Some funny comments in the thread about it on Sherdog too.

  2. JOSH says:

luv how people will take any bait…ANY KIND.

  3. PizzaChef says:

I still think that photo looks altered. I only see “UFC” and no “Ultimate Fighting Championship” name below it. Even if it is altered it still doesn’t mean that UFC got Mirko.

Look here to see what I mean:

    http://ufcstore.seenon.com/detail.php?p=3779&SESSID=10c295b81bccb0ea15c79cf7471a68d9

  4. Yes, because a NEWSPAPER would take the time to do that.

  5. Xenos says:

It’s not a front-zip sweatshirt. You can clearly see that the F is solid with no zipper running through it.

    Different sweatshirts.

  6. Xenos says:

Also, perhaps your eyesight is poor; I can see “Ultimate Fighting Championship” written quite clearly underneath the UFC logo.

  7. MMA T-Shirts says:

Some people really have reached new levels of stupidity in claiming this picture is photochopped. Jesus H Christ!

  8. PizzaChef says:

Actually there is a typo: Even if it is altered it still doesnÒ€ℒt mean that UFC got Mirko.

  9. At this point if the UFC hasn’t gotten Mirko, then it’s an elaborate conspiracy by Mirko, the UFC, the NSAC, and more to trick people into thinking this.

Follow the facts: Sherdog announces from a reliable source that Mirko has chosen UFC. Mirko denies, Sherdog stands with story. Mirko pulls out of Pride’s NYE show. Word comes from several reliable US fight camps that not only is Mirko signed, but his opponent has been chosen and is Jake O’Brien. Next we hear from the NSAC that the UFC has filed for Mirko to fight on their February card. And now we have Mirko CroCop wearing a UFC hoodie.

Just think of the implications on any of these single facts … Sherdog standing with a bogus story that tarnishes their reputation. The NSAC not telling the truth. Mirko wearing the clothes of a competing organization? These guys make good money off sponsorships … they know exactly what they’re wearing all the time in terms of endorsements.

Aaaanyways, i could go on and on and on and on and on and on. If this was a magic 8 ball question: ALL SIGNS POINT TO YES.

  10. MMA T-Shirts says:

PizzaChef, you are an embarrassment to yourself and your family. Go sit on the naughty step.

  11. JOSH says:

I thought Jake O Brien is fighting Heath Herring not Mirko. Plus why woul they waste Mirko’s debut on free tv when u can get people to pay money to see him?

  12. PizzaChef says:

What the? I thought I fixed the typo. Ah forget it.

  13. Dedwyre says:

The Deadspin article seemed kind of sick to me. The guy said all the fun is out of the UFC because they don’t allow groin kicks or digging into cuts. I hope he was being sarcastic.

  14. PizzaChef says:

What’s with the trash talk T-shirts? Had a bad Christmas or something?

  15. MMA T-Shirts says:

’twas meant in jest… but seriously, it’s just so annoying when people dismiss things they don’t want to be true without actually engaging their brains. As has been said many times but ignored by many people, this is one of the biggest mainstream media sources in Croatia (apparently), yet some people still suggest it is photochopped…

And what point exactly would there be for a mainstream news agency to photochop it just to cause some sort of hype/propoganda? Croatian news agencies aren’t in the business of stirring shit between UFC and Pride (or their respective nuthuggers).

I had a good christmas by the way. Not spectacular but decent πŸ˜› Hope you did too.

  16. Mr. Roadblock says:

The UFC would be brilliant to Mirko on free TV. That’s what they should be doing with Rampage too. You let 1.5 million people see Mirko kick some tomato can’s head off after building him up as the deadliest striker in the world for an hour and a half then you let people know he’ll be fighting the Sylvia/Brando Vera winner on May or June whatever live on Pay Per View.

  17. Zach Arnold says:

I feel very bad for what might happen to Brandon Vera if Dana decides to send him a farewell message by putting him in the same cage with Mirko.

  18. JOSH says:

Eh Vera’s smart, he wouldnt sign the contract.

  19. KennyP says:

    Umm, Deadwire….

Deadspin.com is not at all serious. Ever. They are sarcastic, snarky, irreverent, and damn funny. They created the “You’re With Me, Leather”/Chris Berman phenomenon, inspired The Daily Show’s “Carl Monday is Watching You Masterbate” expose, and currently invoked the wrath of Barbaro’s fan club by posting choice excerpts of their online guestbook.

Their UFC piece was not a criticism.

  20. MMA T-Shirts says:

Well… by that I mean can we please stop discussing if the f**king picture is fake πŸ˜› Please commence the “poor Eddie Sanchez” discussions πŸ™‚ Apparently he reckons if he hits anyone with that right hand, they’re going to sleep…. I think the whole MMA world would collective lose their bowels if he did that in his next fight,

  21. Yeah Deadspin.com is mean even when they’re trying to be nice. That’s about as positive as yer gonna get from them. The fact that they’re even mentioning the fight on saturday says A LOT about how over the UFC66 show is.

Oh re Jake O’Brien, you might be right. I can’t remember if it was Eddie Sanchez or Jake O’Brien who’s been tentatively tapped to fight, both names have been mentioned but i can’t remember which name was the ‘reliable’ name :-p

I’m pretty sure if UFC wanted Vera to fight Mirko and Vera said no they could sit on his contract and make him sit on the sidelines for a good 6-9 months.

  22. MMA T-Shirts says:

Thanks for breaking that Fightlinker πŸ˜‰

  23. PizzaChef says:

    Poor Eddie Sanchez. πŸ˜‰

  24. PizzaChef says:

Hey….Whatever happend to the Emelianenko Aleksander UFC talks?

  25. MMA T-Shirts says:

No idea. I don’t think he’d get a US Visa with his history though would he?

  26. JOSH says:

Eh I wonder if this is again Sherdog’s “reliable inside source” talking.

  27. Mr. Roadblock says:

The Aleksander talks ended when Werdum subbed him in the first round in Holland.

  28. iain says:

how come the shockwave ppv is on at 9h on the 31st, no tape dealy??

  29. iain says:

    dealy=delay

  30. JThue says:

Tape delay from earlier in the day, as usual.

Good God I’m so tired of sites jumping the gun to be first to announce the Cro Cop news.

  31. For all the heckling, sites like Sherdog don’t ‘jump the gun’ … I’ve never seen them post rumour and speculation before. The one thing they’ve gotten wrong was the Matt Hughes retirement thing, and Josh Gross says that they were just reporting exactly what Matt said.

  32. JThue says:

The past week has clearly showed that there’s a lowering of standards in order to try to be first to confirm where Cro Cop goes.

  33. AnimalMother says:

Today’s Vecernji List, Sakikibara himself confirming that the UFC outbid them according to this translation:

    http://www.sherdog.net/forums/showpost.php?p=12492767&postcount=1

  34. If it was anyone other than CroCop there wouldn’t be this degree of speculation. Everyone would have just trusted Sherdog when they reported it two weeks ago.

  35. JThue says:

I don’t have a problem with Sherdog & MMAWeekly reporting this last week. I have a problem with them reporting it last week when they have since then clearly showed that even they themselves didn’t fully trust the sources they based the report on in the first place. That is why we’ve seen it reported AGAIN as breaking news over the past 48 hours, once again citing unofficial sources. If you don’t have full trust in your source, don’t report it. If you report something without having full trust in your source, it shows you jumped the gun. This is fairly common in journalism when it comes to giga-news like this.
