  1. rusticaz says:

Bring in Matt Lindland? Silva broke the rules? You’re not allowed to make incestuous “UFC fighters” look bad? Great, but Lindland is too intelligent to ever join the UFC good-old-boy club.

I like to watch competitive MMA fights. Hope the fight happens. I’d rather see Lindland in Pride though.

Another point: If the story is true, have Dean Lister and others been forgotten.

    Oh yeah:
PrideFc: The Real Deal. The difference is imminent.

  2. JOSH says:

I dont know…I think with the card they have “the Real Deal” doesnt look to good…. first impressions are so hard to make a second time.

  3. JOSH says:

Also I dont think Lister has much of a chance against Silva. Lister has no striking and Silva has some damn good BJJ skills that he hasnt displayed yet in UFC…therefore Lister is pretty much outclassed unles she possess some GnP that he hasnt displayed yet.

  4. Luke says:

Incestuous? How about home-grown? You just accused Rich Franklin of incest.

  5. Allen says:

That UNLV article is about as ignorant as it gets. Did Dana slip pimple faced English major who wrote it a $20?

“Take one look at Fedor Emelianenko, Pride Fighting’s heavyweight champion.

Fedor is a champion with a record of 23-1. Of his 23 victories, 10 have come by submission; only five victories have come by way of knockout.

On the inverse side of things, UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, though having a similar record of 22-2; 16 of his 22 victories, come by way of knockout, and only two come by submission.

Though the other weight classes illustrate that there can be many knockouts in Pride Fighting, they aren’t nearly on the level of UFC.”

  6. Shaolin says:

LoL zach you of all people should be laughing at the report about pride coming to a half empty building. Not only has meltzer confirmed 10000 paid but also this reporter whose email does not seem to be posted, makes an absoultely retarded comment about fedor vs tim sylvia, do you really want to loose credibility linking your website to sites such as this which makes fight opinion look amatuer like that website???

I usually dont agree with you, but i did have more respect for you then that.

  7. Bryan says:

Yeah, I had to laugh when the author of that article had the temerity to imply Sylvia was a more exciting fighter than Fedor. I guess he missed the boos during his last unbelievably boring fight.

The kid has obviously never seen Pride but the fact that he’d piss all over ground fighting when the UFC was started by a BJJ guy and attempt to argue that Tim Sylvia is a more entertaining fighter than Fedor because Fedor can submit people makes me wonder if he’s ever even seen any UFC. If Dana White didn’t pay him, it reads like he asked some UFC official or fanboy why UFC is better and that just regurgitated the crap he was fed into this article.

Also, 10,000 people buying tickets to an event that wasn’t heavily advertised and that whose only mainstream exposure is a poorly produced show on Fox Sports Net has to be considered a rousing success.

  8. JEFF from Fresno says:

    Hey Zach,

Is the Baroni/Nishijima fight at 205 or at contracted “catch” weight? They weighed in at 194 and 195, and I just kind of found that odd.

  9. Donut62 says:

The UNLV “Rebel Yell” article is most ignorant piece of crap I have ever seen written about Pride/UFC. Obviously this kid posts on Sherdog, because that’s the only other place I see such stupidity.
