The Ultimate Fighter Season 4, Episode 5

By Erin Bucknell

We REALLY didn’t need a recap of the staph infection, thanks.

The coaches discuss how they thought having Smith fight Lutter was a weird decision. Clementi speculates that it was Serra trying to protect Sell. Shonie backs up this idea.

Serra makes it known that if he is going to be fighting this week, he wants it to be against Clementi.

Shonie is once again wandering around sans pants and decides to throw all the water bottles into the pool in order to make a gigantic floatie. All I can say is “huh?” Especially as there appears to be a bright green raft right there.

Roommate Jen and I both decide that Randy really needs to learn to love the bic. So much hotter than only half a head of hair.

Team No Love decides who’s coming back by coin toss and Spratt wins. I know that they did it that way so as not hurt anyone’s feeling or whatever, but couldn’t there have been a less arbitrary way of going about this? Spratt is thinking about stepping aside for Clementi.

Shonie then decides to play loud ass pool at 3:15 in the morning and can’t seem to understand how this could be annoying to others. He then throws the water bottles back into the pool. Shonie, you fly under no one’s radar.

Jen and I make completely inappropriate comments about Rich Franklin and his “teacher” commercial.

Spratt finally decides that he will be the one to come back.

Shonie now decides to put the water bottles in a plastic bag and uses it for his floatie. I’m still not getting why he doesn’t just use the real raft. He’s totally a little kid with an art project. “But I don’t want the real raft mommy; I want the one I made!!!!”

The fight is announced as Din Thomas vs. Mikey Burnett

Apparently Team No Love picked Din to fight as they figured his staph infection would be all nice and full blown. Problem is, Din is on medication.

Recap of Din’s fights in the UFC including his losses to Penn and Uno and his wins over Iha and Serra.

Recap of Burnett’s UFC wins over Tadue and Saunders (nice loin cloth shorts he was sporting, by the way). He wasn’t fought since 99.

Round 1: Lots of the standup with Mikey looking a bit better to start out. The fight hits the ground with Burnett in Thomas’ guard. Thomas goes for a triangle choke but Burnett sneaks out and they are back to standing. Burnett blocks a takedown and Thomas immediately goes for a triangle. Burnett almost gets out again, but Din manages to hang on get the win. Din is now confident that he can make it all the way to the end.

Next week McCarthy gets a new nickname, Jorge gets a new kid and Rich Franklin comes to visit.  And honestly, when I hear that two people are looking to bang their way to victory I automatically think of some kind of weird ass porn tournament.
