Media notes for upcoming MMA events

  1. This weekend is the IFL show in Portland, Oregon. It’s not getting much attention online, but the local press in Oregon has been covering it. Antonio Inoki is scheduled to make an appearance at the event, meaning the IFL show will no doubt receive coverage in the Japanese press. Making Inoki’s team, well, unique, is that bodybuilder Ken Yasuda and Kendo Ka Shin (Tokimitsu Ishizawa) are coaches for Inoki’s Tokyo Sabres team. Team members include: John Cole, Katsuhisa Fujii, Kazuhiro Hamanaka, Tom Howard, Shane Johnson, Masayuki Kono, Amos Satelo, & Ed West.
  2. This weekend also features a big event at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, California. Our very own Erin Bucknell is scheduled to be in attendance, so Erin will try to have a report on the site by Sunday. This show, too, has been receiving a lot of local coverage in the Bay Area.
  3. The StrikeForce event in October in Fresno, California continues to shape up with an intriguing card. The advertised card so far: Tank Abbott vs. Paul Buentello, Josh Thomson vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig, Wesley “Cabbage” Correira vs. Ruben “War Path” Villareal (the man who faced Bas Rutten on the WFA 7/22 Los Angeles event), Bobby Southworth vs. Anthony Ruiz, and other fights featuring Trevor Prangley, Jason Von Flue, Casey Olson, Antonio Banuelos, and Philip Perez.
  4. Jason “Mayhem” Miller continues to garner attention in the mainstream press, both in Hawaii and Southern California. Miller is quickly becoming a bonified cult star in the industry.
