Multichannel News is reporting that InDemand programming executive Marshall Zelaznik will join UFC and head up their UK opertaions. MN says this move is a precursor of UFC expanding into Europe.

Meanwhile, an update on the Silva/Liddell story that was first reported by CP (Canadian Press) in the Calgary Sun – the CP wire report has now been picked up by all the major Canadian newspapers. The author of the CP article is Neil Davidson, who has written many UFC articles in the past for CP.

The Montreal Gazette reports that UFC will be at the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) in Toronto on August 30th.

The sooner we get live PPVs in the UK the better.

  2. Ivan Trembow says:

On a note that is completely and totally unrelated to Zuffa hiring an InDemand executive, it now appears that Pride can’t get its Bushido shows on American PPV, which I say because the next one is only on FSN (as opposed to having a few edited fights on FSN for casual fans, and the full event line-up on PPV for hardcore fans).

  3. Zach Arnold says:

Ivan – I don’t know if it’s an issue of UFC blocking out PRIDE (surely the UFC would have went after WFA if they had the power, but they didn’t). PPV is really a financial burden if you don’t have a lot of money on hand. You only see 35-40% of the profits, and you’re often at the mercy of the executives in regards to scheduling. In the case of PRIDE, them doing PPVs only to “expand” into America made no sense. The Fox Sports Net deal, at least on the surface, logically plays out better in terms of reaching a larger audience.

  4. Lynchman says:

If the UFC could block a ppv, why take the smaller Bushido show? Why not the regular Pride show? By all accounts, the Bushido shows draw fewer buys.
