UFC 62 card firming up
By Stephan | July 17, 2006

So far the card has:
- Chuck Liddell Vs. Renato “Babalu” Sobral
Can Babalu withstand Chucks kicks and hits? Can he take down Chuck long enough to take care of him? I’m looking forward to this rematch. The UFC clearly thinks that Chuck will win easily to then face Wanderlei Silva. Chuck should not look past Babalu, that could be a serious mistake, Babalu is the real deal.
- Forrest Griffin Vs. Stephan Bonnar
Another rematch, UFC is big into rematches these days, just dont bring us back Tito vs Ken again. Will it have the fireworks of the first one? Thats all UFC is hoping for. Have we seen the best of Bonnar yet?…and Forrest, even when outmatched against Tito (Tito stood back in the second and third round because of injury) has a great heart and determination. This one is really a fight for the TUF fans, as both have probably hit their peak already. Chances are slim that it will be as good entertainment as the first one.
Not confirmed yet, but in the rumour mill (may be on the next card GSP vs Hughes):
- Mike Swick vs David Loiseau
This has the potential of fireworks! This wont go long either way. This is a great test for Swick, it also has the potential of being the swan song for Loiseau in the UFC.
- Sherk vs ??
Hopefully we will know soon who will fight in the lightweight, KenFlo turn this down…Personnally I’d like to see Pulver.
Purely rumours:
- Okami vs Terrell
Okami won (corrected, I had this originally as lost) by DQ against Anderson Silva, and Terrel is very exciting, this has potential.

Actually, Okami won by DQ against Anderson Silva.
Good article, though, and I agree–if Loiseau loses, I have a feeling his contract won’t be renewed.
Not a chance that Loiseau loses. Mike Swick’s good, but he’s never faced anyone as tough as the Crow.
Pulver should definitley get the shot since he was the last man to hold the UFC 155 lb title and never lost it.
Correction:
Okami won vs. Anderson Silva via DQ
Does anyone know why Kenflo turned this fight down? The last thing I heard from him was that he would love to fight for the LW title.
Kenny doesn’t think he’s ready yet for the top of the 155 heap and wants 1-2 more fights to be ready.
You have to figure Zuffa will try to load up this card, knowing that UFC 61 got universally bad reviews!
Two bad PPVs in a row would be a major momentum killer.
I talked to Josh Neer at Extreme Challenge 69 in Davenport, IA and he said his next fight was in the next UFC in aug..
