Claimed attendance was 47,423 paid.
- Roman Zentsov defeated Gilbert Yvel in in 4 minutes, 55 seconds by KO for the win.
- Fabricio Werdum defeated Alistair Overeem in R2 in 3 minutes, 43 seconds by submission from an arm-lock.
- Mark Hunt defeated Tsuyoshi Kohsaka in R2 in 4 minutes, 15 seconds after the referee stops the fight (KO). Kohsaka took a major beating and also dished out the punishment to Hunt as well. If this is truly his retirement fight, he went out with a bang.

- Kazuyuki Fujita defeated James Thompson by KO in R1 in 8 minutes, 27 seconds.
- Mirko Cro Cop defeated Ikuhisa Minowa in R1 in 1 minute, 23 seconds by TKO (blows on the ground).
- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira defeated Zulu in R1 in 2 minutes, 17 seconds with the cross-arm scissors.
- Hidehiko Yoshida defeated Yosuke Nishijima in R1 in 2 minutes, 33 seconds with a triangle choke.
DSE boss Nobuyuki Sakakibara made a comment at the show (noted by Sankei Sports), stating that he felt feelings of betrayal by Kazushi Sakuraba for jumping to K-1/HERO’s.

Did Barnett talk out Pro-wrestling after his fight? NJPW really made a huge blunder in their treatment of Barnett. I would rather see him as the top gajin than Brock Lesnar. Barnett would do the tours and his a strong MMA fighter with huge credibility.
From what I read Fujita took everything Thompson threw and Josh gassed. Thompson is crazy if he thought he could KO Fujita!!
Barnett (on the winning end) and Kohsaka (on the losing end) were the two bright spots of the show, without question. It was a good win for Josh over a legitimate fighter in Alexander.
With that stated, the show pretty much went down in predictable fashion – which is rare in a shoot environment.
Wish we got Pride in the UK. We get UFC but no pride. The last 3 fights were just foregone conclusions. Did Nishijima wear boxing gloves?
It still looks like a solid show. I hope my sister in-law back in Japan, Yuko, recored this on a DVD & sends this to me like she has the last few PRIDE & K-1/HEROS shows.
It IS good to see Josh get a win over a tough guy like Aleksander,…but him calling our Fedor,…I’d like to get e few more wins, because Fedor is THE MAN.
Also glad to see TK go out in style. I beat since he fought well the heat for him must have been nuclear.
Glad to Nog get a victory, as he is probably the best pure submission fighter.
Mirko getting a KO by blows on the ground? Thats a suprise!
I’d like to see this show
T.R!
Josh BANZAI!!
We want his costume(pancrase mark palody).sale please
Finish hold “armlock”is legend pro-wrestler’s ultimate weapon,L.thez also said so
And good bye & Goodluck TK,his final fight was art.
Any numbers yet on attendance?
Results went pretty much as expected, though probably the slight favorites in Overeem/Werdum & Emelianenko/Barnett were beaten (although Emelianenko really wasn’t as savvy opponent wise as Barnett was and shouldn’t have been considered the favorite).
* sorry for poor english.
After match, Josh said “I’m the strongest pro wrestler in the world.”.
“Omaewa Mo Shindeiru!” (I don’t remeber exactly, but it may right.)
– my quick though –
* Roman Zentsov is next Igor?
* Hunt / Kosaka was great. It’s sad that Kosaka join to pride was too late.
(Hunt was good. But I think He is not strong enough to beat Fedor…)
* It seems Fujita was not in good shape. He was like Mark Coleman.
(Tackle~ tackle! tackle!) He should learn something more.
* Milko/Minowa & Nogueira/Jullu & Yoshida & Nishijima match were joke.
(Jullu = Akebono)
* Barnett vs Alexander was great. Barnett proved again that he is the
strongest Otaku/real pro-wrestler in the world. ^^ But I think he is not
strong enough to beat Fedor too. Alexander was strong. But He has one
big problem : Stamina. (yeah, Alistair has this problem too. He has only
5 minute. Joke : He is strong as Fedor in only first 5 min.
Beat in 5 minute or die~! He has superb wife. his stamina in bed is
same as in ring?)
* Werdum is strong figher. But he is not good fighter like Arona.
Because his fight is too boring. Anyway, I hope to see Werdum vs Hunt
(grappler vs Striker) or Nogueira (who is best grappler in Pride?) at
next GP stage.
* Final Thought : FEDOR IS EMPEROR. Who Can Stop Him?????
Let’s look at the second round via process of elimination.
You figure a Japanese has to be in the Semis.
Yoshida v Fujita guarantees this.
DSE likely wants CroCop in the Semis.
Cro Cop v Zentsov is the most likely route for that. Or Cop/Barnett III but that is a tough sell.
Those two fights are not that exciting. Now you have to make a main event out of Hunt, Nog, Barnett and Werdum.
Hunt/Barnett should be explosive and Nog/Werdum will attract grappling fans.
You then end up with a Japanese, Cro Cop, likely Hunt and the Nog/Werdum winner in the Semis. This tourney really suffers not having Chute Boxe, Coleman and Henderson in it. But it should still provide some good fights.
big up barnett, repping Pro-wrestling. NJPW really are idiots!!!
“Omaewa Mo Shindeiru!†– I think that’s from the manga film fist from the north star.
here is how i would match them up:
Fujita vs Hunt
A total striking war with two guys that have heads made from cast iron. A total slugfest that be most enjoyable. Fujita would have a decent chance to go through to the semi’s, representing the Japanese.
Barnett vs Fedor/Zentsov – Still unsure if Fedor will be subbed in for the second round. If so then this will make four huge drawing fights for the semis. If Zentsov is put in, then this will be the weakest of the four but could be sold with the pro wrestling angle.
Cro-Cop vs Nog
Huge Re-Match. Has Cro-cop’s game evolved enough since their last match. Will Nog’s improved stand up keep him from being pummeled like he was in the first round of their first fight? This is a rematch that had to happen and what better time than now.
Yoshida vs Werdum
Though definitely has skill, I think Yoshida will take this one and give the japanese audience a rooting interest in the semis.
Josh said his promo in English and finished with, “Fedor you’re already dead,” and then in Japanese, “Omae ha mo shindeiru,” right afterwards so that his American fans could understand his promo. Or at least that’s what he said he was doing.
His fight was pretty impressive. He worked his butt off. When all of the fighters reassembled in the ring at the end of the card Barnett’s face looked like he had been through a war.
I think Hunt is too generous. He lets his opponents stand up. Even when he’s on top mount and doesn’t punish too hard. Don’t you agree?
This is what Josh said after match.
“I come to take this tournament. I’m back.
I’m here to show pro wrestling is the strongest in the world.
I’m aiming for one man. Fedor! You’re already dead!
Omaeaa mo shindeiru!”
and he sang his entrance music “animation : north star” when he left
ring.
haha! hilarious~ He is absoulutely the strongest mma-prowrestler/otaku
in the world.
It is very exciting seeing everybody so motivated! Josh wants fedor, Crocop wants a title, Nogueira also and if fedor wins this one too after 6 months not training …. it is far far the best fighter… but I doubt he will win. I doubt even his participation. Why did they put a non grand prix fight zentov-yves? in case fedor doesn’t enter the tournament, they will have a reserve! I think even hunt has his chances to win. There are 3 fighter though that are completely without chances – Werdum, Fujita and Yoshida.
Wasn’t James Thompson supposed to get utterly wasted in the first two minutes by the supposedly all-conquering Fujita?
Is there already an official lineup matches from pride? I want to see Fedor vs Hunt. Yoshida vs CroCop. Thanks
