Expect an English version to be uploaded on the PRIDE site shortly. Hunt talks about the upcoming open-weight tournament show on 5/5 at the Osaka Dome. In the Japanese interview, he is asked for his thoughts about Fedor, Nogueira, Mirko, and Barnett participating in the tournament and who he would like to face. He notes that he would like to face Fedor. The interviewer asks him what his strategy would be in a fight against Fedor, and Hunt replies that you have to formulate a strategy based on what he (Fedor) does in the ring. In other words, you can’t have a static game plan.
Here are the men tentatively announced so far for the 5/5 Osaka Dome tournament: Emelianenko Fedor, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mirko Cro Cop, Kazushi Sakuraba, Hidehiko Yoshida, Vanderlei Silva, Mauricio Shogun, Dan Henderson, Tsuyoshi Kohsaka, Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, Ikuhisa Minowa, James Thompson, Ricardo Arona, and Sergey Kharitonov. Mark Hunt is also likely on the list, making this the 16-man tournament roster. Here’s the list from Sports Navigator in Japanese:

No Shensuke Nakumera. I’m disappointed.
Interesting roster. I wonder how they would decide the initial 1st round fights?
Nogueira v Silva would be crazy
Fedor has a plate in his hand, he can’t even train yet. No way he is fighting the first round of the GP. I also doubt Sergey will be ready in time.
Shogun’s injured. Fedor’s injured and has stated that he won’t participate. Kharitonov just got KTFO with injury. What kind of list is this? Who formulated this?
The list was the one released by the promotion.
With 2 slots open, and probably Sergey’s will be open too, they should add Mark Coleman,Phil Baroni, and Kevin Randleman. Hammer House needs to be represented.
Of that list, we know Shogun won’t be ready, and it’s unlikely that Fedor or Sergey will be either. I think we’ll probably see Mark Coleman and I hope Alexander Emelianko. I think Alexander would have a legitimate shot at winning the whole thing. There’s also been buzz about putting Gomi in there.
Now where the hell is Giant Silva?
Who cares about giant Silva? anyway heres a list of i would like to see in it (not counting with K-1 nor UFC)
Dan Henderson
Ryo Shonan
Alex Stiebling
Mark Hunt
James Thompson
Mirko Filipovic
Alexander Emelianenko
Mauricio Shogun
Quinton Jackson
Alistair Overeem
Roman Zentsov
Wanderley Silva
Fedor Emelianenko
Rogerio Nogueira
Sergey Karitonov
Rodrigo Nogueira
They need to do Coleman vs. Wanderlei in the first round. This opportunity may never be as hot as it is now.
Good lord they aren’t going to rest until they bury Sakuraba next to Hashimoto. Thompson will be blown away immediately. Minowa will valiantly go down in flames and be buried next to Sakuraba and Hashimoto. The only thing that can save this is Inoki coming in as an alternate and applying his geriatric anaconda choke on Mark Hunt.
At least they spared Gomi from the unnecessary beat down list. Like others have stated, scratch Shogun, Fedor, & Kharitonov unless they want to sneak them in later as an alternate. Pride should use Werdum, Fujita & Coleman, or pick up Lyoto Machida for a spot. Leave Nishijima alone he needs time to develop (and heal). Zentsov, Mu Bai, or Vernon White would be legit, or for Nostalgia bring in Ken Shamrock and Marco Ruas for a first round match-up. Sorry but giant Silva skills suck. He does not belong in Pride period. Please, please, no more giant Silva, I tap, please, please, no more.
