Gracie vs. Shamrock Official
By Rob Sayers | January 23, 2006

Hell has frozen over it seems as Sherdog is reporting the long announced bout between MMA legend Frank Shamrock and BJJ Black Belt Cesar Gracie will finally take place March 10th in San Diego’s HP Pavilion. This will be the first MMA event in California since mixed martial arts events were made legal in the state.
While I’m looking forward to this fight, I have a feeling it will be short. One of the greatest fighters to ever enter the ring against a man with no mma fights. I’m sure Gracie is good, he’s produced some great fighters… But i’ll be surprised if he does well against Shamrock.

Don’t forget the undercard with Cung Le’s MMA debut.

Frank has been talking about a return for so long that it seemed Bas Rutten and Rickson Gracie would fight again before Shamrock did. Indeed it seemed like the yearly announcements were simply to keep Franks name in the news. Since Gracie is 0-0 in professional fighting and Shamrock is a former legend, the money is on Frank to win. He needs to do it in convincing fashion or its not going to look good.
