Not much mainstream media coverage for EXC Stockton event

By Zach Arnold | July 25, 2008

Tito Ortiz has been generating good press in the Phoenix media market for an upcoming blood drive this weekend in the area.

Writing the obituary on the IFL.

  1. The Seattle PI: Elite XC is ready for round two
  2. The Oklahoman: Frank Shamrock steps behind the mic for Elite XC
  3. icLiverpool (UK): Cage Gladiators roll into town in city’s biggest cage fighting showcase
  4. The Edinburgh Evening News (UK): James Mair has a hold on the fight game
  5. The Sun (UK): Brock Lesnar says ‘this fight is do or die’
  6. KELO Land (SD): Brock Lesnar says ‘there’s a lot to learn in this sport’
  7. The Times Herald-Record (NY): In MMA cage, Brian Stann builds ferocious reputation
  8. The Times Herald-Record (NY): Rory Singer says UFC-style mayhem is not for everyone
  9. Ben Fowlkes (SI): If Affliction wants to hang around, it may need a math lesson

  1. Ivan Trembow says:

Here’s hoping that with the closure of the IFL, Jay Larkin gets out of the MMA industry and goes back to an industry that does not remind him of “gay foreplay,” as he has said about ground-fighting.

  2. Grape Knee High says:

Tapout getting some press (just a puff piece):

  3. IceMuncher says:

I haven’t heard any buzz about the EXC card Saturday. Last time I had co-workers and friends bring it up in conversation. It’ll be interesting to see what numbers it pulls on Saturday.

I think Affliction did more damage than the UFC. After the fights last Saturday, EliteXC suddenly finds itself as the second biggest challenge to the UFC.

  4. Chuck says:

I agree about Larkin. RIP IFL, we hardly knew ye. And we hardly got to know the six-sided ring and camp affiliation concept IFL was going to introduce.

  5. 45 Huddle says:

I am really looking forward to Shields/Thompson. The rest of the card, I’m not that excited about.

  6. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

Anyone watching this Maximum Fighting Championship event that’s on HDNet tonight?

    Canadians, I guess.
