Fight Opinion Radio #80: Josh Barnett & Shayna Baszler

We decided to go with a different format for this radio show. This time around, the guests are the co-hosts… and it made for some interesting radio. Listen to Mr. Barnett discuss his philosophy on catch wrestling (in relation to jiu-jitsu) and his pointed comments towards Eddie Bravo. Shayna discusses her future with Elite XC and what she really thinks of Gina Carano. Plus, Josh & Shayna close out the show with an embarassing segment sure to draw a high quarter-hour rating, Shayna’s Secrets. How could this possibly go wrong?

I like the guests as co-hosts format, but I think it would only work well with certain people. Luckily, Josh is one of them.
Great show, you can understand where Josh is coming from as far as Zuffa is concerned, a 2 or 3 fight deal should mean just that, boring or not you don’t like them don’t sign them. Eventually with other promotions and there more liberal views on sponsorship, contracts etc fighters if there not already choosing to go else way they soon will. The likes EliteXC are slowly creeping up the ladder and Zuffa aren’t careful and sit on the laurels kinda like Pride did all there work could be surpassed.
Oh and Jeff so called Shayna “Gina” at 29:09 of the interview lol

Josh Barnett is one of the most knowledgeable people in the sport (with the exception of Zach, of course), and I always love hearing his comments on what happens in the ring and out.

MildernhardPark, that song is Josh’s intro song, I think its called “Fist of the North Star”, or something like that.
Josh’s comments about the difference between Catch-as-catch-can and bjj were great. He could have talked about episode about that topic.
I noticed a mistake during the interview.
Ivan Salaverry did get compensated at UFC 52 for not letting him wear Punishment Athletics. UFC gave him $5,000. sponsership money.
So, Some Fighter’s do get Extra money for not allowing a fighter to wear a certain sponser.
