  1. SB says:

Proelite stream is broke and been broke for the last 30mins

  2. Xtreme Couture says:

Go to http://www.proelite.com/live/8 that works. Give it a minute to load.

In the meantime we’ve got some pics of our guys fighting this weekend on our blog.

    Big weekend for Xtreme Couture.

    Enjoy the fights!

  3. SB says:

Ah yes that works. Damn proelite is bad. Theres no link on the front page or anything.

  4. Kev says:

And if you’re on a mac or use firefox, ProElite is hopelessly broken.

  5. CapnHulk says:

Yeah, I wish it worked with Firefox, but I keep IE around anyway for this sort of thing.

Gina Carano isn’t exactly wowing me with her commentary.

“NICE leg kick. NICE right punch. He’s bleeding. Nice! NICE! NICEEE!”

  6. SB says:

Well undercard is over. I only saw 3 of the 5 since proelite front page is so bad and those were so-so. Gina made alot of use out of the words “nice” and “awesome”. And she raped $kala…damnit…

  7. JThue says:

So Jason von Flue did a “you can’t see me” gesture to Stewart to get him to stand up. How long a suspension will that earn him?

Decent card, way better than the 1hr Dynamite pre-show. Carano was hopeless and Puppy Shaw no better, but for good for what it was. Aaaaaand the arena appeared to be filling up in a promising manner. I like the entrance stage.

That armbar exhibition with Gina and Skala was reminiscent of bodogFight’s picture features on scantly clad bodogGirls “showing MMA techniques”.

  8. Kev says:

What does the XC in Elite XC stand for?
    XTREME (ref) CLOSEUP

  9. CapnHulk says:

Shamrock with a torn ACL and MCL?

    C’mon.

  10. Zach Arnold says:

For those not watching the show, what are you referring to Hulk?

  11. CapnHulk says:

Jay Glazer mentioned that Shamrock told him that he had torn his ACL and MCL in the previous week and that he wouldn’t be able to shoot in for any takedowns.

And again, in the first round Shamrock had a point deducted for rabbit punches to the back of Baroni’s head. Complete domination for the majority of the fight by Shamrock.

  12. Zach Arnold says:

I shall humbly admit that my picks for the Strikeforce show over at MMAPredictions.com were completely out of whack. I picked Carter Williams, Joey Villasenor, and Phil Baroni. Ouch.

  13. Zach Arnold says:

Apparently the knee injury is legitimate:

Shamrock fought the fight with a blown out knee from training with Sokoudjou last week.

I don’t know who’s getting a bigger reputation as a monster training partner, Sokoudjou or Melvin Manhoef.

  14. Jonathan says:

I had Rua, Le, Buentello, and Thompson…lost on Baroni and Ludwig. I don’t think that there is a more hot/cold fighter then Duane Ludwig.

  15. Jonathan says:

Does this set up a Le/Shamrock Middleweight title fight? If so, this is a HUGE sell in for Strikeforce in San Jose.

  16. Adam Morgan says:

One of the best cards of the year. Great show. Elite XC/Strikeforce have their acts together. I think this promotion could be the next big thing.

  17. MoreThanUFC says:

Wow, best card since Pride 33 IMHO. Just awesome. Too bad my guy Krazy Horse couldnt get some exposure, but I’m glad Edson Berto got it instead.
I went undefeated on the main card, and one of the two swing bouts. I picked Ludwig over Daley for my only loss. I’ll never do that again, unless he faces the likes BJ Penn, Mach or Melendez.
And I’m super happy for Ninja Rua. I’m tired of having to explain his record to ppl.

  18. Matt says:

What an awesome event. A solid card, good production, great fighters, lots of good fights.

I felt strangely privelidged watching Cung Le and Frank Shamrock in action.

  19. chairibofjustice says:

Nice to see Mazagati shave off the porn stash.

  20. Mark Pickering says:

Just finished watching the main card of EliteXC/Strikeforce – Judgement Day. A really stellar show with some hugely competitive bouts which lived up to their billing.

Cung Lee put on a striking clinic – totally dominated the vastly experienced Fryklund who fought into the hands of Lee, failing to produce a single takedown attempt or land anything of note. Maybe it was to be expected – the Freak has never faired well against top draw strikers.

Lee’s a pleasure to watch and is quickly becoming one of the most feared 185-pounders – one day we’ll see his ground game tested.

A game Joey Villasenor always comes out to fight and made a bright start against the more fancied Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua. After the American initially peppered Rua at will the Brazilian gradually came into the fight as it progressed – landing some telling blows in R2, before eventually flooring Villasenor with a straight hand right and followed up until the ref called an end to proceedings. Ninja becomes the first EliteXC Middleweight Titleist – a worthy champion. (Alex Reid will have it all to do when he rematches Shogun’s older brother in September)

Paul Daley fought a perfect fight against Ludwig. As the agressor Semtex edged a close R1 with both fighters unable to really stamp their authority on the first period. Daley stepped up the tempo in the second and with Ludwig matching the Brit’s takedown attempts he reverted to his coveted standing game. Daley landed a sweet right hand and reigned down on his fallen foe to pick up an impressive TKO win early in the second. The finest win of Nottingham man’s career – he’ll be the man to beat in EliteXC’s WW division.

The main event was arguably FOTN and went as expected. The longer the bout went the more Shamrock was inevitably going to impose himself – but the damage was effectively done with the first round knockdown – Baroni was out on his feet for the closing stages of R1. Despite punching himself out in the first and barely surviving the round the NYBA battled back put together some fiery combinations as Shamrock looked to be gassing. As both looked physically spent a worn down Shamrock sinked in a rear naked choke after getting the better of Baroni shooting and put him to sleep. Despite Frank’s torn ACL coming in and the NYBA pulling his groin both guys left it all out there in the standout contest of the night – (no mean feat in itself).

Now EliteXC have the challenge of matching up their latest and most significant acquisition, Sokoudjou.
