Takanori Gomi made an appearance tonight on The Best Damn Sports Show Period on Fox Sports Net in Los Angeles. It was a surreal appearance, because the hosts (Chris Rose & Rob Dibble) were asking some interesting questions, with most of them sounding like what a hardcore fight fan would ask (what would happen in the ring if you faced Oscar De La Hoya? How will you make sure not to lose to Marcus Aurelio again? Who would you fight in an open-weight fight? Gomi’s answer: Vanderlei Silva.) Gomi spoke in Japanese and had a translator (named Yoji). Each man had a title belt with them during the interview.

Hideki Yamamoto, the husband of Yukino Kanda (of the PRIDE US office), appeared in the second-half of the TV appearance (along with Gomi’s translator, and his training partner Yuki). Basically, it was a “techniques of PRIDE fighting” segment, a demonstration sparring segment. Clips of Gomi’s appearance are available here.

  1. Tony says:

That was shockingly……good. I’m surprised that the interviewers appeared to have done some homework.
