Tuesday, February 14th, 2006Why Japanese wrestling promotions have it easy compared to the US, and how promotions can grow with technology By David Ditch There’s no business quite like the professional wrestling business. Beyond aspects like the content of shows, kayfabe, a thorough lack of established practices and an inability to unionize, wrestling also has a unique situation […]
Stream of Unconsciousness
Thursday, February 9th, 2006Why the major wrestling web sites are ignoring the biggest change in professional wrestling By Sheldon Goldberg Internet television is quite possibly the biggest change in professional wrestling since television itself. It’s use in wrestling is something that I introduced. (Related link: Missing out on the big picture.)
Jack is back… with tripe
Thursday, February 9th, 2006By Zach Arnold A few days ago, I wrote a rebuttal to a Jack Encarnacao article about the similarities (or lack thereof) between the MMA & pro-wrestling industries. Well, Jack is back… with more. So am I.
MMA and Professional Wrestling are not the same
Sunday, February 5th, 2006By Zach Arnold If you are not a pro-wrestling fan, then this post is probably not for you. If you’re a pro-wrestling fan who follows MMA, stick with me here. Jack Encarnacao (who has written articles for The Boston Globe) wrote a piece titled How MMA’s popularity is already changing pro wrestling. Far be it […]
Nick Diaz: Chicken-Shit Heel?
Sunday, February 5th, 2006By: Luke Nicholson I’m sure the internet community will be a-buzz for a while, over the actions of Nick Diaz towards Joe Riggs at a Vegas hospital following his loss at UFC 57. Sucker-punching your opponent at the hospital after a fight, is one of the least sportsmanlike and classless things you can do. Depending […]

Pro Wrestling is Like a Dandelion
Tuesday, January 31st, 2006By Sheldon Goldberg Just when you thought you should write off pro wrestling in America as a dying beast, along come signs of growth. Like a dandelion on a field of grass, no matter what WWE does or what the mood of the public is toward the mat game, pro wrestling still manages to sprout […]
The onus falls on ALL SIDES!
Sunday, January 29th, 2006By: Luke Nicholson Everytime a story like this latest one out of Hawaii surfaces, it reminds me of the WWE commercials reminding kids not to try this at home because of the dangers that it entails. But, beyond that, it reminds me that the onus falls on more than just politicans and media people to […]
New Japan rumors
Thursday, January 19th, 2006Gryphon on his blog reports some rumors (in Japanese, via the infamous 2ch gossip Japanese message board system) regarding the relationship between New Japan & TV-Asahi. The rumors claim that TV-Asahi wants to discontinue airing NJ’s weekly television show. Here’s a more direct link (in Japanese). The reality of the situation for New Japan is […]
A birthday wish
Thursday, January 19th, 2006By Zach Arnold Today is my birthday. Which naturally means that it’s one of the few days in the calendar year in which I work on the Puroresu Power and Fight Opinion sites for less than 6 hours. Or at least I try to. Nonetheless, I do have a birthday wish that I would like […]
TV ratings battle
Thursday, January 19th, 2006Here they are: WWE RAW – 4.3 rating, UFC Ultimate Fight Night – 1.7 rating. That is strong. Very strong. Debate the implications in the comments section.

The Lost Generation
Sunday, January 15th, 2006I was reading a recent interview with Ricky Steamboat from the Monday Night Mayhem internet radio show where he was talking about the role of road agents in the WWE and he brought up a point worth taking note of.
“He (Steamboat) went back to when he wrestled, and how 90% of the locker rooms were seasoned, well-worked wrestlers — with only a few rookies. He says the percentage now is 70% of people still learning in the business, while the other 30% is the Triple H’s, Shawn Michaels’, Chris Benoit’s, and Kurt Angle’s.â€
There is a lost generation of veterans and veteran values in professional wrestling and it is a big reason why the business is in the state that it’s in.
