The question is: what about Barnett’s license?
Yeah, how about that? Has he taken care of it yet? Is it just a matter of passing a test or does he have to appear in front of the commission?
If i remember correctly he didn’t even give a statement back then, so my guess would be that he definetely has to appear in front of the comission, as well as pass a test before the fight. And there’s still the question, if they’d even allow him to fight, since he just fought one month before the Las Vegas show. Pride doesn’t hand out medical suspensions, so it could very well be, that they’ll require all fighters who thought at the GP Finals to take be medically examined and cleared by NSAC.
I have read on another forum Tyson v Giant Silva will be added to the card. Anyone heard anything on this?
It’s a hoax. The guy who posted it earlier on Sherdog included link to a page on MMA Weekly that didn’t exist.
But i got to admit, i wouldn’t be surprised if Pride really matches Tyson up with a guy like Giant Silva or even Dos Caras jr.
As posted on the PRIDE reality show article, Tyson is only going to cut a promo at the Vegas show. He will have his first fight (not in Japan) for PRIDE’s New Year’s Eve show.
Hammerhouse!!! These guys are fighting arguably the best fighters in the world at their weight classes. Time to rise and shine Mr. Coleman! I named my dog after you!
I guess Zachs comment ends the argument as to whether the NYE show will be in Japan huh? I have had many discussions with many people who swear that Pride would never do a show as big as NYE anywhere outside of Japan.
The New Year’s Eve Show is a TV show. No reason Tyson’s fight can’t be at a location outside Japan and broadcast as part of the show. You could have Tyson fight live to tape at a venue in the U.S. or at a Chinese casino.
This card is looking pretty bad. I hope they announce some decent fights because people are not going to pay simply to see top Pride stars fight lesser opponents.
I am wondering if I will even be buying this ppv.
Don’t get your hopes too high, the NYE show will DEFINETELY be in Japan. Simply because that’s the only place in the world where they can sell out the arena and do a good gate (if they can manage to give the crowd the big money matches they are used to see, given that this time they don’t have Fuji TV around pouring a few million $ into it). The expensive tickets for “The Real Deal” are not selling too good, in fact the only tickets that are sold out are those for 50 and 100 $. So in order to break even they’d have to put on a card that’s not too expensive, if they were to do the Show in the US.
And the Tyson fight (or, the fights, if he really signed a multiple “fight”-contract) will most probably be taped somewhere else…
