PRIDE’s worst nightmare
By Zach Arnold | March 9, 2006

19-year old Koki Kameda, Japan’s hottest boxer in terms of business, is going to make things very hard on DSE on May 5th. Kameda’s camp announced that his next fight will happen on 5/5 in Tokyo at Ariake Colosseum. The fight will likely be carried on live television (Tokyo Broadcasting System?) and would run against PRIDE’s 5/5 Osaka Dome show on Fuji TV.

I saw his last fight against the mexican no.13 ranked fighter.
All I can say is that Kameda only won due to 6 low blows (below the belt) and at least one to the groin.
Nothing to be proud of and it made me skeptical about referees/umpires in Japan , nothing was done . If the referee for the fight was up to standards kameda would have lost a point for those dirty tactics. Can’t wait till kameda challeges a tougher fighter overseas for a change and gets the crap beaten out of him.
He has no class, fight within the rules and I’ll respect him.

Today, it was announced that Tokyo Broadcasting System would carry the fight. The importance of this is that this event would theoretically go against the PRIDE 5/5 Osaka Dome show on Fuji TV – if the TV network carried it. In the Daily Sports article, DSE is quoted as saying that nothing has been decided about Fuji TV wanting to brodcast the 5/5 Osaka Dome show. DSE management is quoted as saying that they will concentrate on SkyPerfecTV broadcasting the show as a PPV. […]
