More 2 PPV’s in one month BS…. It’s getting old quickly.
What this card really should be is…
UFC LHW Title: Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio Rua
Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Nogueira
Kimbo Slice vs. Matt Mitrione
Diego Sanchez vs. John Hathaway
And then if they wanted to put on a 2nd card for the month it should be free on SpikeTV looking like this:
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley
Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher
This watered down garbage is going to catch up with them eventually….
“This watered down garbage is going to catch up with them eventually…”
Agreed.
45 is correct. Machida-Rua and Rampage-Rashad on the same card would be epic.
Yep. The classic winners fight card. I love those events. No matter what 2 of the 4 win you’ve got a big Main Event in the Sept-Nov range.
Except that there is nothing watered down about this card, people might need to look up past UFC cards line ups to see that. Also there is also the fact that you can skip cards you don’t want to see and buy the ones that you do.
Some powpowpow fights to get the people watching solely for violence happy (95%, give or take 2% as margin or error), then some mysteries. Koscheck should win against Daley handily, but he chases bonuses and that will probably lead to him getting KOed. Then again, taking down Daley and dominating him would probably get him jeered by Dana and then told he doesn’t get a title shot. Great sport, this MMA. Meanwhile, the rematch of a suspect decision is the main event and third in terms of what they want to promote here. I think Shogun shoots for takedowns in this one to change tactics and tries to GnP Machida. If he’s successful, he’ll probably lose his title in his first defense and continue the musical chairs at 205.
Why would the UFC ever push to fix judging & the crappy unified rules? Poor judging granted them two more main events with the Shogun/Machida & BJ/Edgar rematches. That’s crucial in a time where they’re running too many cards that are watered down.
It’s come to a point where there is nothing extremely interesting on the horizon in the sport for me, and it’s really disappointing since I’ve been watching it for so long.
If boxing is able to actually pull off with PBF/Pac Man fight before MMA pulled off prime Couture/Liddell vs prime Wand, prime Uriah vs prime Kid, Fedor vs Couture, Fedor vs Lesnar, etc etc then MMA has really failed. PBF/PM has so much more money, posturing, ego, etc involved but it has more of a chance of happening than any of the fights I mentioned because MMA is still under the wack pro wrestling model. Yeah, it works for monthly entertainment, but it doesn’t work for the legitimacy of the sport or to provide fans with the Superbowl type matchups.
And the idea of having one organization when its run by a company like Zuffa with their idea of likeness rights, icing divisions & titles for reality shows, cutting top 10 guys like Werdum after 1 loss cuz he won’t restructure his contract, etc etc will never work. A union will never work either. The spectrum between the top and bottom in MMA is too great for that to happen.
Kimbo loves not living in a rusty yota sr5 IMO.
You can call it canada if you’d like.
At least Koscheck-Daley will be the new worst thing to ever happen to the sport this week.
So Daly threw a late, after the bell, fight? The Sherdog PbP made it seem like it was well after the bell?
Is that what happened? How did it play out?
Jonathan: It was a few seconds after the bell. The fight was clearly over, Koscheck got up and was walking away, Daley got up and moved towards him, Big Dan GOT IN HIS WAY to make sure Daley was cool (I assume Daley said something to that effect), then Daley tapped Koscheck on the shoulder, and punched him when he turned around.
On another note, Shogun!!!! Fuck yeah!!!!
Well that is great!
I was a little worried when shogun walked in looking pretty flabby, but its an all win in the end!
Now I can root for Dragon again (cant stand people who are undefeated. It doesn’t develop their character.. and the pee thing too).
Now he’ll be a better man (I wouldn’t say he didn’t scuttle on purpose), and I could easily imagine his beating Shogun on the rebound.
Which wonderfully leads to many more rematches between these two gods on earth.
There is really nobody else in the way.
Its only these two and Shad/jackson as a side order.
Plus almost all the canucks getting smoked makes me feel like a natural woman.
