It’s come to this: Chuck Liddell will dance with Donny Osmond & Tom DeLay

By Zach Arnold | August 17, 2009

Print Friendly and PDF

So, this is what retirement from MMA has brought The Iceman — Dancing With the Stars:

Contestants also include reality stars Mark Dacascos and Kelly Osbourne; entertainer Donny Osmond; mixed martial artist Chuck Liddell (lih-DEL’); professional snowboarder Louie Vito; Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlin (KAWG’-lin); former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin and former Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

The ninth season of the hit ABC show premieres Sept. 21.

Dana White, please reinstate this man into UFC and let him fight Tito Ortiz if it means putting a stop to this.

  1. 45 Huddle says:

I kind of like it. I won’t be watching, but I’m sure it will be just as funny as watching guys like Adam Carolla trying to dance.

  2. CapnHulk says:

    Tom DeLay? What the fuck?

  3. Chris says:

LOL. If Lawrence Taylor and Emmit Smith can do it, why the heck not?

  4. Fluyid says:

I hope he doesn’t have another moment like he did on that TV interview where he said that he wanted to fight Tommy Morrison and Tiger White.

  5. jr says:

I’m digging the trainwreckishness of this.

  6. Alan Conceicao says:

I have no emotional attachment to CHACK, so if he does walk out there and falls down doing the Charleston, I will laugh my ass off. Guaranteed.

Also, I won’t be in the least bit be shocked to see him back in the UFC next year. I totally expect it.

  7. 45 Huddle says:

Didn’t Floyd Mayweather Jr do it?

I bet we some fans angry when he is called a UFC fighter and not Mixed Martial Artist….

I’ve seen parts of that before. It really is bad. But a lot if people love it.

  8. Steve says:

45c, you’re a moron dressed up as an idiot. The friggin press release called him a Mixed martial Artist…I’m sure that’s what they will call him, they will then say former UFC champion….You have any idea? Sometimes? Never? Huh?

  9. Bob says:

Mark Dacascos (Crow TV series, Iron Chef America) KOs Chuck in the 1st round.

  10. Steve4192 says:

As a Chuck fan, I’d rather see him on Dancing with the Stars than see him get his brain scrambled again. We all know he is eventually going to come out of retirement, but the more time he spends away from the Octagon, the better.

  11. Pierre-Luc Allie says:

GSP should try to get on this show. I’m sure he can win it.

  12. Steve says:

James Thompson should go on it….ROFL.

  13. Mark says:

Supposedly they always have one guy with a bad ass reputation on every season for the “lol the tough guy is doing ball room dancing!” reaction. But Chuck is just going to be embarrassing.

On a side note, The Sun was reporting Kurt Angle was supposed to be on the show last month.

  14. Fluyid says:

Remember back when Couture tried to get on Dancing with the Stars and for some reason couldn’t?

    Times have changed.

And here’s a random Dana White interview I came across while looking for the ‘Couture on Dancing with the Stars’ thing. He jokingly calls Couture “gay” at the 7:07 mark or so.

  15. Ivan Trembow says:

I’m looking forward to watching it. Hopefully his professional dance partner is Julianne Hough.

  16. Dan Wilder says:

“Yes Dana White, please allow Chuck Liddell to get punched some more so I don’t have to watch him on a hugely popular television show, the irony being it’s a show I probably don’t watch.”

What the hell is wrong with you, Zach?

  17. Fluyid says:

I took what Zach wrote as lighthearted joking. Was I wrong?

  18. Dave says:

    This is incredible.

  19. Jeremy (not that Jeremy) says:

    People watch this crap?

  20. Chuck says:

Two martial artists (Dacascos and Liddell) on the same season? Why?

And why was this stupid show so fucking popular?! There were people I know (guys even) that said they watch the show to “watch the dancing”. Huh? How lame! Most of the “celebrities” are talentless hacks anyway (that makes it funny) so why bother, except for the train-wreckness?

  21. klown says:

    Off-topic fanboy moment:

I just rewatched Babalu vs Musasi. Damn I’m impressed by that guy.

I’d like to see Musasi fight Nogueira, and if he doesn’t get the chance to fight any of the UFC crop, I’d be glad to see him move to HW like he said he planned to.

  22. Michaelthebox says:

    This will be hilarious.
