Mirko Filipovic told Dana White he signed a 3 fight deal with DREAM. No joke.

This doesn’t hurt the UFC at all, but for all the people complaining about Zuffa not doing this for Fedor, well now we know why.
The UFC hadn’t done a one-fight deal in over 9 years? Really? That’s pretty hard to believe considering that 9 years ago PRIDE had lots of leverage over the UFC. Anyways, why did Mirko Cro Cop contact the UFC for a fight in the first place if he was going to bolt right away? It makes no sense to me. I could understand Fedor going in for one fight, beating Brock Lesnar and then holding Zuffa hostage. It would be a big power play. But what was Cro Cop’s motivation to beat a tomato can and then leave?
All main event and #1 contender bouts should be 5 rounds.
Something was made clear last night. Wanderlei is not on the same level as Anderson. Anderson smashed Franklin twice in a row in under 2 rounds. Wanderlei went three rounds and lost a decision.
You could also compare their performances against Henderson. Silva was knocked out cold with a right hook after a war. Anderson disposed of Henderson in a round a half with a rear naked choke.
Anderson would knock Wanderlei silly with punch or knee then finish him on the ground with a submission or TKO.
Wanderlei needs to quit. The idea of fighting at 185lbs is a joke and I dont see how he can do that. He needs to stop fighting period. The guy has taken too much punishment and just doesnt have it anymore. He was done after Mirko killed him. That was a brutal beatdown and one fighters struggle to recover from. His now just fighting on pride and guts. 205 or 185 it doesnt matter. Silva is a shot fighter!!
I thought Cro Cop had one fight left on his deal from before he went back to Japan. He was temporarily released, and I assumed this most recent fight was on that same contract.
What is with all the “Wanderlei needs to retire” stuff?
I and the people who were watching the Franklin fight last night were pretty astonished that Franklin won. It was a pretty close fight, but I thought Silva did more damage and was far more aggressive – Rich was on his bike the whole 3rd round. He’s been very competitive in all of his recent fights, even the one’s he was KO’d in and last night showed us his chin is still sturdy. He’ll get accustomed to the cut, it did seem to affect his game a bit last night (you could see his usually awesome cardio was a bit tapped)…and he’ll clean out a bit of the mess in the middle of the 185 divison.
