Boxing: Eddie Chambers vs. Samuel Peter
By Zach Arnold | March 27, 2009

What a painfully frustrating fight this was to watch. (Watched this tonight on ESPN2 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.) “Slow” Eddie looked like he was in mediocre shape and Samuel Peter looked like he could barely move.

There’s plenty of good heavyweights, all of whom are about Joe Louis sized. Thing is, they call them “cruiserweights” now.
Agree with #1. At the very least they should rename Cruiserweight as Jr. Heavy or Light Heavy. They’d have an easier time building those guys into stars. Also people would be more excited to see them move up and take a whack at heavy champs.
I watched the fight card. Some very nice KOs, but the main event was very lackluster. Eddie Chambers looks like a combination of Larry Holmes and James Toney when it comes to fight style. And his gut.
Samuel Peter needs a radical change, whether it be in his people around him, his training methods, his career…. I don’t know. Something.
