According to the CSAC, Affliction paid out $3.3 Million for the fighters salaries. And this only includes $300,000 for Fedor. And most reports have him making around $1.5 Million.
So most likely, the overall purse was closer to $5 Million.
That is a LOT of PPV buys just to cover those expenses.
Tim Sylvia was paid $800,000 to lose.
Clearly, there is no question as to the validity of the Tim Sylvia vs Fedor fight, it was totally legitimate, despite the fact that the outcome was Affliction’s wet dream best scenario.
For comparison, Arlovski got 105/65 for his final UFC fight.
Sylvia got 100/100 for his last two UFC fights, and lost the last one, so he only got the 100.
Affliction says that they were paying these guys 4 to 8 times what UFC paid them for their last fights…
