I have been thinking of getting into watching K-1 kickboxing recently (I’ve only followed K-1 HERO’s and the NYE show thus far and saw only a kickboxing match here and there) so I’ll keep an eye out for these events. I’ve heard from K-1 enthusiasts though that the product has been hurting recently due to the surplus of freakshow matches and the fact that K-1’s top draws are getting old.
That is not a good enough reason to not follow K-1. They put on great shows 🙂
Also as a fan I preferred PRIDE to the UFC as PRIDE was more oriented towards strikers than the MMA, which is more oriented towards American wrestlers and BJJ guys. There’s nothing wrong with the ground game (a Sylvia match is more boring than a Koscheck match) but I do tend to prefer strikers (Wanderlei Silva, Shogun, Cro Cop, etc.). So I’m thinking of getting into following K-1.
Oops. than the MMA = than the UFC. Damn Zuffa’s UFC = MMA marketing works. 😀
