The Associated Press on WAMMA
By Zach Arnold | December 14, 2007

“You have the beginnings of the sport, and we’re trying to help take the sport mainstream.”
WAMMA will release its first rankings on Monday and will include fighters from all organizations, even those that want no part of it. The alliance hopes to schedule its first world championship bout in mid-2008, and eventually help put together 20-25 title fights a year.
“I think there’s other potential there,” Szady continued, “and what I really believe is that if the UFC maintains the sport the way it is, I don’t know how long it will remain popular.”

YEAH!! MMA will now having sanctioning bodies, just like boxing! Oh Joyous day!
God help us…
I can’t wait for them to set up a fight for the ‘Bud Light LHW title.’ God that’s going to be awesome.
The most depressing thing about WAMMA (okay, besides having \”Budweiser\” on the championship belt) is the members of the MMA community and media that are endorsing it.
I mean, Bill Goldberg never had much credibility to begin with, but Sam Caplan? Mauro? Pat Miletich?
