MMA being sanctioned in Washington DC
By Zach Arnold | September 16, 2006

The D.C. Boxing and Wrestling Commission on Thursday took the first step toward sanctioning mixed martial arts in the District by unanimously approving a local promoter’s plan to put on a series of events.
Called the Mixed Martial Arts Championship, the promotion is aimed at tapping into the burgeoning local martial arts scene and providing a home for some of the city’s top fighters who normally travel to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other brawling centers to find work.

WOW!!!! It’s about time we get this. Please keep us informed as this progresses.
Kickass, I’ve been waiting for DC to legalize MMA. Next step New York!
Good news. Maybe now that the political capitol of the United States is saying that MMA is safe, and worth sanctioning, more states will start falling in line.
No one has ever looked at the DC municipal bureaucracy as an example of good government-in-action.
