PRIDE 10/14 Las Vegas show
By Zach Arnold | August 3, 2006

They are marketing this show as THE REAL DEAL. Seriously.
Possible participants include PRIDE Fighting Heavyweight Champion FEDOR EMELINANENKO, “THE NEW YORK BAD ASS†PHIL BARONI, KEVIN “THE MONSTER†RANDLEMAN, MIRKO “CRO COP†FILIPOVIC, MAURICIO “SHOGUN†RUA, KAZUYUKI “IRONHEAD†FUJITA, MARK “THE HAMMER†COLEMAN, and other PRIDE Fighting superstars! (Fighters and card subject to change.)
PRIDEFC.COM mailing list members will have the exclusive privilege to purchase tickets two weeks before they are made available to the general public. Event tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis, meaning PRIDEFC.COM mailing list members will have access to the best seats before the general public. Ticket prices will range from $50, $100, $300, $500 and $700.
A few interesting notes: Recall when Mirko, a couple of weeks ago, stated that he was considering working in America in October but not for PRIDE or UFC? Jeff Thaler says Phil Baroni, who was supposed to work the UFC show in November (tentatively headlined by Vanderlei Silva vs. Chuck Liddell), is off that card. It’ll be interesting to see who fights and who doesn’t fight on the PRIDE show.

Mirko has to have signed with WFA. I don’t think he’d be interested in fighting for a team in the IFL and no other organization can afford him. I love the WFA for who they’re signing but Mirko is virtually unknown to most American fans.
They went deep into the overseas and ex-UFC talent pool for their first card and only 5,000 people cared enough to show up. I can’t imagine the PPV numbers were that impressive. I think it’s imperative that WFA get a free TV deal or at least Shotime/HBO if they are to survive a year. That’s the only way they are going to raise enough interest in these expensive fighters to generate higher attendandce and PPV numbers.
The WFA is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this deal, but don’t forget about Strikeforce.
My question is: How are they going to use a RING??? NSAC disallows them.
I HATE MMA in a cage. Thats what I decided. Lindland did so well against Quinton because he was smart– He held him up against the cage for 3 f-ing rounds!! Not only was it boring, but the cage is more of a tool than a gi, wrestling shoes, or any other banned substance is. Pride in a cage would be crap.
Sam thats not true, there are rules for MMA ring use in Nevada:
