Kameda’s next test
By Zach Arnold | August 1, 2006

Tomorrow at Yokohama Arena, the headliner is Koki Kameda vs. Juan Jose Landaeta (Venezuela) for the vacant WBA Light Flyweight Title. With little MMA or pro-wrestling activity right now, boxing has dominated the Japanese news wires. Kameda hasn’t changed his heelish act, as he and Landaeta had a staredown today after the weigh-ins. The day before weigh-ins, the Japanese press made a big deal of Kameda eating a hamburger. Don’t ask why. Nonetheless, the fight should draw big TV ratings.

“mmmmmmm. This is a tasty burger. Mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down with? “
If ever any yakuza links were worth investigating, it’d be the Kameda brothers and their thick-browed, tongue rolling, scowling Dad.
I think they made a big deal about Kameda eating a hamburger because the dude has to make weight, and he could gain weight eating something fattening like a burger.
Kameda said to the Japanese press (I think) that people who have to diet and cut weight are weak.
That’s messed up, because Kameda fights at 108 pound weight limit. He won’t be fighting at that weight fo much longer.
