It apparently isn’t only PRIDE that is getting the yakuza scandal treatment. This week’s edition of Shukan Post is promoting a “scoop” story about the alleged ties between the yakuza and the (star) boxing Kameda Brothers.
The yakuza spotlight continues to shine in relation to the fight & entertainment worlds. Last week, 10 members of Goto-gumi were arrested by Tokyo Metropolitan Police.

Considering the International Boxing Club (IBC) in the late 40s through early 60s, run by Jim Norris (and by all known accounts backed by mafioso Frankie Carbo) had helped control most of the top fighters of the era (even getting Jake LaMotta to take a standing dive against Billy Fox according to his congressional testimony), it’s not really shocking that the Yakuza would have their hand in the Boxing jar.
