Bas Rutten makes PRIDE predictions
By Zach Arnold | December 28, 2005

Bas Rutten makes his predictions for the 2005 Man Festival.
Most interesting paragraph from his predictions article:
Nakamura/Kondo Nakamura is a star on the rise, but Kondo faced more opponents in MMA and fought better guys, so you would think that Kondo is going to do it. Than again, Nakamura is getting better and better all the time and I am talking about his heavy hands and overall MMA skills. This is going to be a very competitive fight, Nakamura needs to take this one to the ground, Kondo is just to good on his feet. Kondo’s is also hard to keep down so that is going to play a factor in Nakamura’s game too. I cannot predict this one, if you look at the list they fought, I would say Kondo, but no prediction on this one from me.
On Bryan Alvarez’s radio show on Wednesday, I made the prediction that Kondo would defeat Nakamura. Kondo has faced a brutal list of top MMA fighters in the last three years and because of several tough losses, I don’t think people give him enough credit for being a good fighter. Nakamura has a lot to prove as a fighter, still, even after spending time training in Brazil. I think Kondo vs. Nakamura could easily be the sleeper fight of the night in terms of fight quality. I’m looking forward to it.

This is definitely a sleeper for me too. I actually enjoyed Nakamura vs. Igor from August which most people slated in terms of quality but I thought it was a good ground battle and I’m looking forward to seeing Nakamura again.
