Vps Enterprise Agreement Parental Leave
By Zach Arnold | December 19, 2020

Victoria Police is an advanced organization and we focus on developing human resources for our employees. We offer a number of development opportunities, including part-time and full-time leave plans when they adapt to business needs. We encourage the extension of skills and the exchange of knowledge between departments or detachments to other government agencies, with regular internal advertisements. The right to parental leave for a worker who is an assistant at the time of the child`s birth or adoption has increased from 2 weeks to 4 weeks of paid leave. In addition, a secondary guardian, who becomes the child`s primary caretaker within the first 78 weeks (18 months) after birth or adoption, has an additional 12 weeks of paid leave. Among the most significant and generous changes made by the VPS agreement is the new and improved right to parental leave. Article 55 also expands the right to existing parental leave, to allow workers whose child is born from surrogacy to have access to rights and to clarify that a worker on parental leave is not required to return to work in order to have access to other parental leave. The basis for which a worker can access his or her personal/acquired care leave has been changed and workers now have the explicit right to take paid personal/care leave for purposes: the community union and the public sector and the government have agreed on a package that will reward you for the important work you do, while ensuring that public services can be provided more reactively. Benefits for workers under the new enterprise agreement include annual wage increases, a new mobility premium, higher overtime rates and night work allowances, as well as more parental leave. This directive contains guidelines relating to Article 56 of the VPS agreement, which sets out the circumstances under which a worker can benefit from leave and to charge the remuneration in order to facilitate his participation in the activities of the defence reserve. The directive also provides guidance on workers who may have access to more generous and received rights. Flexible work will be clarified and protected by the merger of all existing provisions into a specific part of the new agreement.
Workers no longer have to work for 12 months before requesting flexible working time arrangements. We appreciate that everyone has different needs and responsibilities, which is why we offer Victoria Police a wide range of flexible work arrangements, including part-time work, care leave, family leave, compassionate leave, flexible hours, unpaid leave, paternity and maternity leave. A full list of changes to the current agreement and a copy of the final agreement are attached. This directive contains guidelines for Article 48 of the VPS Agreement, which defines the range of workplace assistance for workers who sacrifice domestic violence, including access to 20 days of paid leave.
