You know I came to accept the fact that MMA is the most unpredictable sport in the world years ago. But what I can’t accept is nights like this where multiple guys on the main card simply don’t show up or put on horrible showings some career worst.

Honestly I know anything can happen but this was a replay of UFC RIO and that’s not good for mma in the long run. Cerrone, Vlad, Fitch, Nam and Brock all looked like crap it’s one thing to lose it’s another to put on pathetic performances that match their careers worse.

I don’t know how you solve that but it really just takes my enthusiasm for the sport away when I see guys just not show up for huge fights on ppv.

Where did all the comments go?

I do have to say it has been satisfying to see the BROCKLESNAR! fanbois crying in their soup after the crushing loss to Overeem after they’ve run AO’s name and record through the mud for the last few years while putting Lesnar on a Fedor-like pedestal. Running through the various stages of grief at light speed.

To a lesser extent, I have been a big fan of the Diaz haters/Cerrone bandwagon fans reaction to last night as well. Brock and Cerrone have been able to be humble and real in defeat, yet the online horde is just inconsolable.

It’s too bad Brock’s retiring – I would have loved to see the UFC do a 1-off fight between him and Fedor. A few years too late, just like Silva- Liddell, but neither side really has anything to lose from putting that fight together now. Snowball meet hell, etc., etc.

    • Mark says:

Funnier than any of that is the damage control “Meh, Brock retiring isn’t that big of a deal. I doubt Dana cares.” Are you ribbing me? Did you see the look on Dana’s face when he strapped the belt on Velasquez? That “Bye-bye millions of buys” look? He probably puked in his mouth when Lesnar retired.

Until you can find a guy who draws a million buys in 2012 guaranteed no matter who they fight, you are insane in the brain if you don’t think Dana is very, very upset right now.

  4. RST says:

    Congrats to Overeem.

But honestly as soon as I saw the Brock I though that he looked smaller then usual.

He seemed game enough, but it also seems that people who said that he loses interest when its not all his way were right in the end.

I think JDS has still got to be the honest favorite against Overeem.

Although I wouldn’t argue passionately against Overeem’s chances being a bit better than 2-1 under.
