@Brad: Actually the reserve fight situation isn't as complicated as it looks.

If a fighter after the QUARTER FINAL can not continue the winner of the reserve fight will jump in.

But if a fighter after the SEMI FINAL can not continue the semi final loser will advance.

The reason is that a reserve fight winner would have an advantage in the finals because he had only one bout. Also the reserve bouts are held after the quarter finals to give no advantage to the reserve fighter because of a longer resting time.

There were different regulations in the past but this is how it works today and I think it's a pretty fair system.

Their last fight I think was at the Fukouka GP in 08, Schilt-JLB fought in b2b years at the WGPF in 06,07.

Whilst he's my favourite K-1 fighter and I will be cheering for him every minute of every round, Jerome needs his power more than anything to overcome Schilt and it seems as if it's all but gone now due to his injuries and age. But miracles happen

Jerome is down to fight this week (boxing) and it's live on Eurosport....I hope he doesn't do himself a mischief.

Honestly, the reserve thing is pretty jacked up. If a fighter in the tournament loses by doesn't take a lot of damage, they can move on. If the losing fighter is knocked out, the reserve fighter in the best shape moves on.

Can someone clear this up for me, beacause in the past K-1 has sent mixed messages about how the whole 'reserve' thing works:

If a fighter is injured, does the winner of the first reserve bout take their place? Or is it the defeated opponant, providing they are fit to fight?

In their last bout (it was the FINALS as I recall), Jerome's knee was damaged in a previous fight. He's beaten tall lanky guys before.

Seriously, it's going to be a good fight.

Ok I will be the heel here. I am a Schilt fan and am now anxiously waiting 12/5 to see JLB get rocked by the uncrowned king of K-1!

Yeah, WAR JLB!!!

But seriously I know Jerome has slim to no chance in this one (F'N Schilt!)

The only thing I'm sure of is that the reserve match winners will probably pay a part in the tournament in the semi's.
