The turning point might be Lesnar's ability to TAKE a punch.

Let's face it, the UFC hasn't exactly matched him up against many guys with dynamite in their hands. And Carwin hits very, very hard (ask Gonzaga).

If Carwin can unload early and get some shots through, this could be another R1 win for him in under 90 seconds.

If course that's a big 'if'.

Is Carwin even training full time now? It would be kind of odd to have a virtual unknown take Lesnar's title...a guy who doesn't even get paid enough to quit his engineering job!

This could be a new trend for the UFC: get former WWE stars to fight McDonalds employees who only train MMA on the weekends.

I’m loving that Rothwell was chided as an undeserving opponent that proved nothing and was a non-factor when fighting Arlovski, but now that he’s been starched by Arlovski and fighting in the UFC, he’s suddenly legit and a great test for a guy that’s one fight from fighting for the strap.

I’m not saying he’s not a good test or opponent, but that all of the people who came out of the woodwork to deride him are now saying what a great opponent he is now.

LOL, well, yes. Imagine if he won!

This is the same PPV going against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

45 Huddle Says:

Coker might not be talking smack, but the Showtime executive is.

Umm, Coker is not going to fall for Danas word games and all the Showtime guy said was that the UFC is good at spreading rumors.

Nothing more than that.

Carwin is going to have a hard time winning against Lesnar as long as he (Carwin) continues to block punches with his face, which he has a tendency to do in his fights, even in his big victory over Gonzaga.

Fedor vs. Overeem, Werdum, Rogers, or Monson are the only fights that are worthy at this point. And the Werdum fight still feels like a squash on paper.

With Shane Carwin, it really feels like it's not or never for him. Which is very different then Cain, who I think could still rebound from a big loss.

Speaking of Cain, the rumor is that his next fight will now be Ben Rothwell, which I think is a great test for him. Rothwell is hard to takedown, which might force Cain to stand and strike with him.

The same way you can justify Fedor vs. Anybody not in the top 20 because there isn't much competition for him outside of UFC?

Mark,

Shane Carwin is actually two years older than Brock Lesnar. Think you're getting mixed up with Cain Velasquez who is in his mid-twenties.
