Just watched the melvin fight. What happened there. That punch from Maeda didnt look that hard at all.

I’m pretty shocked that just one knockdown was enough to give a 10-8 round to Bonjasky

No offense, but this is kickboxing we’re talking about. If you get dropped, you lose the round 10-8 unless you knock the other guy down or hurt him huge before the bell rings. As for the whole “throwing him around” thing, can we get people to stop mentioning that? Throws don’t score. They dont show control. They’re fouls.

I’m not a K-1 fan, but I do watch the classics and I’ve been watching the events lately on HDNet. Knowing that I don’t understand the scoring, it certainly looked to me like Overeem won the second round and was winning the fight. I’m pretty shocked that just one knockdown was enough to give a 10-8 round to Bonjasky, when Overeem was throwing him around like a ragdoll.

Personally, I had it 29-28 Remy. First round 10-10, second round 10-9 Overeem, third round 10-8 Remy. If it wasn’t for the knockdown in the third round Overeem would have definitely won. But Overeem should have been deducted a point or two for those belly-to-belly slams, and when he pushed Remy’s chin against the ropes.

But man that was a sloppy fight. Because of Overeem and his Greco-Roman wrestling tactics.

Remy couldn’t get his balance and into his groove because Overeem kept tripping and tossing him. Regardless, Remy did not look too good, and what fights 45 mentioned? Or is that the joke.

They’ll sometimes count weird stuff for Japanese stars they want to go over..

I looked up those fights that 45 mentioned and they definitely counted the same thing as a knockdown in them.

I love how people keep seizing on that comment from Tanigawa. The guy is just a mouthpiece trying to drum up interest in their whole K-1 vs. MMA war. I’m amazed how seriously some people take him.

K-1 is always fun and more often then not, either lots of good knockouts and great competition. Its always been this way. When I lived in Japan I found a video store and watched all the old VHS K-1 tapes. All of them were entertaining and to see fighters like the Lumberjack still fighting is pretty cool.
