I'm surprised that they could not come to terms. But Pacquiao/Mayweather still does big business, because you are going to draw in three sets of fans.

You are going to have the hardcore Mayweather, and Pacquiao fans. Plus the hardcore boxing fans that believe that Pacquiao/Mayweather has more merit in terms of being a competitive fight.

Well Pacquiao has thrown away a money fight and I can book away for the late May UFC Vegas card.

Remember De La Hoya/Mayweather wasn't a PPV fight in the UK (not enough interest), and they had to double header De La Hoya/Mayweather with Amir Khan's comeback fight to put it on PPV - and that combined drew flies. Where as Hatton is a Hogan/Tyson/Austin sized draw on UK PPV in a big fight, and can pull decent numbers in his sleep.

I'll predict now a Mayweather/Pacquiao card to do 600,000 on PPV (with limited rights fees from foreign broadcasters), with the MGM needing to be papered to get a capacity crown.

Either of them with Hatton would do at least 1.2m worldwide PPV, with a sold out MGM.

I agree that this makes sense if Pacquiao has a fight on the table with Mayweather.

Also, that quote from Gareth Davies is hilarious. Pacquiao vs. Hatton would likely be a one-sided fight, but it wouldn't be the slow and clinching-dependent Ricky Hatton who would be dominating his opponent.

Of course a Brit won't be happy about this, but when you think about it, a fight with Hatton isn't worth as much as a fight with Floyd.
