The press talks to Enson Inoue’s former wife about his drug arrest

Miyu Yamamoto, the sister of Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto and ex-wife of Enson Inoue, made an appearance Friday at the opening ceremonies for an event called “EAT JAPAN in Tokyo Marunouchi.” Naturally, the press started to ask her questions about Enson Inoue’s arrest last weekend and, according to a wire report in Japan, she did not want to answer any questions and supposedly left the media area briskly.
In addition to Inoue’s recent arrest, Kid Yamamoto and associates have been reportedly targeted by Tokyo Metropolitan Police in relation to marijuana drug raids (this according to Shukan Gendai last July).
Update: Enson Inoue is interviewed by MMA Junkie. He is speaking out for the first time to the media.
Update (12/18): Enson Inoue appeared in Tokyo District Court on Wednesday and admitted to the charges of marijuana possession. Nikkan Sports noted that Inoue appeared in court wearing a “Yamato Damashii” sweatshirt. A ruling will be made on the 26th.

Why do they take possession of a soft drug so seriously over there? Does it have to do with Japan’s “The nail which sticks out will get hammered down” conformity culture in some way?
That John Morgan guy who wrote the MMAJunkie.com article is about as impressive as Loretta hunt & Josh Gross when it comes to writing. He needs to find a new job, because his track record as a good MMA writer are non-existant.
Enson Inoue has had issues since as far back as I can remember. His brother Egan is slightly better, but is still of the same mold. I’m trying to say this nicely, but basically they aren’t exactly the type of people I would like to emulate.
So Enson Inoue is a “new man”? That’s kind of funny.
Wasn’t Egan Inoue arrested a few times for domestic abuse? I think he was, but he always won in court (he even has custody of his kids.
I do wonder if he is still a decent fighter. He looks to be in good-enough shape, but does he still have good reflexes? I could see Strikeforce picking him up. I’m surprised Affliction wasn’t allegedly interested, because it seems like they would take any former MMA star, especially one who has a submission win over Randy Couture.

Seeing him in an MMA documentary beating up on his kid and treating people pooorly (seeming arrogant), made me think of him in a less favorable light.

Who doesn’t? I mean, if you see a nail sticking out, you should hammer it down or someone will get hurt.
The correct translation of this well known Japanese proverb is “A pile that sticks out will get hammered down”. Not nail. The difference is that there’s nothing wrong with piles that stick out a tiny bit. Japanese somehow hit them to make sure “everyone looks the same”. They will try to eliminate odd elements from their society even when it’s totally unnecessary, making Japan a tough place for gaijin.

Well, Pedro Rizzo for one. He hasn’t been a name in MMA for close to eight years. Josh Barnett as well (even though he is still a top heavyweight). They got Vitor Belfort who’s had his ups and downs for the past seven or so years. And it looks like they are trying to get Tito Ortiz as well.

Ah yes, “Rites Of Passage”. A hell of an MMA documentary. I recommend it to any and all hardcore MMA fans out there. It might be tough to find anymore.
