Although I believe they have a valid point about potential developing joint injury, bringing in a medical expert to talk about potential damage to the wind pipe shows a complete lack of understanding of Jiu Jitsu chokes.

And to simplify grappling to chokes and submissions sounds like nothing else occurs, no position, no take downs, no scrambles, just cranking on joints, and squeezing of wind pipes.

It is difficult to present anything in a fair manner without a decent understanding of what you are presenting.

If I did not understand MMA and Jiu Jitsu and that was the only exposure I had to it – no way in hell would I have my kids anywhere near it.

it teaches children discipline, respect, and gives them some much-needed exercise. You won’t have any more injuries that you would at a hockey practice.

Anyone who is anti-MMA in general is simply ignorant, and it’s the same when kids are involved. Just like pro hockey players punch each other in the face bare-knuckle, this is NOT taught or condoned at a junior level. The same would obviously be true for kid’s MMA.
