The standups were justified. Miura was doing nothing when he stood them up. I challenge you to find a standup where Miura was in the middle of trying to GNP or advance. It always happened after 10-15 seconds of just lying in the guard and catching his breath.

I think Frank Mir may have been under the weather or something. He basically admitted to zoning out during the first fight. Well, not zoning out, just being utterly engrossed and forgetting to talk, but it’s basically the same.

And the stoppage was good too. Miura dropped to the ground hard from a knee and basically took many unanswered blows. I was rooting for the upset but it was a good call.

Classic fight and FOTY candidate. One of the bloggers, I forget who, has been on Rosenthal for a while. I have to agree now. He was terrible tonight. Still, the fight was great.

Did anyone think the announcers underplayed the action a bit?

Oh, is that what Rosenthal said? Thank god. I thought he was congratulating Condit on the last knee, which would have been crazy if true.

I was rooting for Miura but I think he punched himself out with his barrage mid round and was simply exhausted by the end.

Also if you rewatch the end of the fight Rosenthal smiles when apologizes to Condit. You can hear him say, “sorry about that knee.” When Rosenthal went in to break up the fight he lands a knee flush to Condit’s face by accident.
