WEC 35 (8/3/08) Las Vegas

By Zach Arnold | August 3, 2008

A very, very good show tonight. More entertaining than the Elite XC show last week from Stockton, that’s for certain.

Excellent show. Condit vs Miura was outstanding.

Stann showed that “everyone” was right, and that he only had one dimension to his style. Hopefully he’ll come back and redouble his efforts by building new strengths into his game.

Everything else was over so fast…it’s going to take watching the event over again for me to process what happened in those first few televised fights.

I liked both shows and, hope that EliteXC succeeds, as the MMA world needs good competition between promotions to make things interesting and, give more fighters a chance to fight.

I agree that Condit and, Mira was outstanding. It was one of the few fights that showcased a mix of skills, unlike the others where the fighters kept everything standing up. I liked how the crowd cheered the on the ground transistions in the main event.

Not sure why you feel the need to compare this to the EXC show. Both were pretty good, IMO. I’m surprised there aren’t more responses about this card. Did everyone just DVR it?

I did so I could fast fwd the commercials.

  4. August 3rd, 2008 at 10:57 pm Chuck Says:

I just caught the replay (I worked tonight) that was a hell of a show. Better than the EXC show, but that was good too. The Miura vs. Condit fight was excellent. And a rubber match between Cantwell and Stann HAS to happen.

But card of the year still goes to Affliction: Banned, and fight of the year still goes to Cung Le vs. Frank Shamrock. As far as what I have seen…

Back-to-back-to-back weekends with great MMA shows. Condit vs. Miura was an excellent fight.
