Huerta is a good fighter. However, I think Dana know’s he has a number of guys that would love to have that spot. I don’t think publicly bad mouthing your employer when they have a near monopoly in the industry is a good idea.

As long as MMA has existed, there's always been someone willing to spend a bunch of money and throw their hat into the ring. If Huerta walks, someone will sign him.

Double R says Ivan Trembow is a good man then. I retract, boil, then saute my words before eating them. Yum.

Yes, I was saying that it's a disgrace for Cyborg and Baszler to have made such a small amount, not that they were making too much.

Huerta fought 5 times in 2007. I'm guessing he probably doesn't want to have to fight that many times to crack the 6 figure barrier, just as anyone else in his position as a budding star wouldn't. UFC helped make him a name, he wants to profit off of it. He's allowed just as anyone who's done their job exceedingly well and has options for major increases in salary would. He's just got a far shorter time period with which to make his money than the average joe.

Normally, discussing the payscale doesn't interest me, but this business of Silva getting $200,ooo for dismantling a journeyman opponent like Eilers is just rediculous & clearly illustrates how the EliteXC is probably doomed despite the CBS deal.

Other than his dull decision win over an out of shape Ricco Rodriguez, Silva has done next to nothing. Unless one counts his getting KO'd by a reality TV not all that long ago ...

Unless the powers that be at ProElite are just grooming him to hopefully be sacrificial lamb aka "transitional champion" for Kimbo Slice to win a belt off of, I don't get it. If that's the case that's a heavy price to pay for someone to just keep a belt warm ( not that I believe Kimbo will ever reach the skill level needed to beat him however ).
And I doubt Silva can draw well against any other name heavyweights. Not that there are any of them available between the UFC & Affliction!

So, IMO EXC is just throwing their $$$ away on this guy enroute to their eventual demise.

Here we go again. The inevitable MMA pay complaint. It's the free market people. Supply and demand. As long as there's demand, the fighters will get paid.

Every where you go, the talent gets 80% of the pay while the rest gets 20%. It's the 80/20 rule. The bottom 80% gets 20% of the pay.

EliteXC only gets 3000 tickets sold at the gate, and people are outraged at the pay? I'm outraged that Antonio Silva gets paid so much for bringing so little to EliteXC.

If Fedor is getting paid 7 figures to fight, why the hell does he need to rush into fighting for someone else for 75,000?

Paying Silva that kind of money is pretty silly. I mean hey, good for him, but wow.
