ESPN the Magazine is reporting that Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans is tentatively set for UFC’s Atlanta event this September.
Sports Illustrated has an article talking about an upcoming re-vote on MMA sanctioning in New York.
Someone forgot to tell Vitor Belfort that he needed to pay a fine to the Nevada State Athletic Commission before he can fight in the state of California.
Conde Nast’s Portfolio has an article talking about the IFL fighting for its life.
Fox Sports has an article discussing Brock Lesnar’s latest training in preparation of fighting Heath Herring this August.
Creative points of the day for this writer using Kimbo Slice and the NBA in the same paragraph:
A league that once prided itself on its integrity would become as credible as track and field. Attendance would plummet and networks would drop the league faster than Kimbo Slice. In America, no person or entity is unredeemable — witness Mike Tyson and Major League Baseball — but the NBA would need a total and complete housecleaning, from the commissioner to the PR staff, before they can even think about walking that road back.

So, any news on that big tent meeting revival that Dana was going to hold today?
I have no basis for this, but notice how it is BJM and not Zuffa is asking for knee’s on the ground. I don’t think BJM is working for Zuffa here.
However, Zuffa is playing this one smart. Let’s say they request for knees on the ground to be allowed. And then a serious injury occurs. They look bad for it. By waiting to have an independent person like BJM request this, Zuffa can now just claim they were going by the unified rules and keep their hands clean if something bad were to happen.
Very smart on a public relationships standpoint.
Chuck is still fighting Rashad? Crappy. Every time the UFC comes to the east coast, they put on the absolute worst cards. We were planning on driving up, but I’m not taking time off work and paying several hundred dollars to see that crap match. I will just get the PPV instead.
You really love UFC eh.
Man, they really could make a few more exciting fights than Chuck vs Rashad. I like how that was originally a replacement fight, and now they have it burned into their mind that it has to happen.
Zuffa, BJM, & Ken Shamrock all lobbied against knees to the head on the ground when Pride was looking to get sanctioned in CA.
