"If you believe that D. Capitated, I hope you have some bets down, because you’re rich if you’re right. All the bookies have Nogueira as the significant favorite."

Actually, I do happen to agree D. Capitated, and I also happen to have $100 on Sylvia at +170. I only bet when the big favorite (imo) is a decent underdog according to the bookies.

Tim's style is just too much for Nog. I think he has the advantage standing, and I don't think Nog's TDs are good enough to take it the ground.

Even if he gets it to the ground, Nog isn't nearly as dangerous as I hear everone say he is. Nog is still living off a reputation made 4-5 years ago. In the past few years, he's only had 2 submission victories in 10 fights, and those submissions were against low-quality opponents (Tamura and Zulu). I think Karo "Unanimous decision" Parisian has about the same number of submissions victories in that time period. Nog will have a hell of a time trying to submit Sylvia.

"(2) Proof that Pride fighters are overrated and there were rampant steroid use over there."

Based on the way testing is done in the US there's really no difference in how much rampant performance enhancing drug use occurred.

But it's a nice attempt to spew your biased opinions.

I hope Kevin Iole gets fired for his crappy "analysis", guy has no clue.

Hopefully, he'll be part of recently announced Yahoo layoffs

Well, I give Kevin Iole a 10/10 stars for being an ass-kisser, and a 10/10 for being a jackass.

So in my books, he's got a perfect score! Congrats, Kevin 'Huddle 45' Iole!

But as far as the betting line, I don't know...if Sylvia wins, it will very likely be a decision. a very, very boring decision. He has little-no KO power (and Nog has never been Koed) and zero submissions.

Win or lose, Sylvia is still the MMA equivalent of Extra Strength NyQuil.

Sylvia by decision. Sylvia's ground game is – and I hate to say it – very good. Plenty good enough to neutralize most of Nogueira's straight armbars or lazy kimura attempts, in much the same way a he nerfed everything Monson through at him. Sylvia's weakness, which must be exploited by a master, is his refusal to let his hands go, which opens him up to big punches (which Nog doesn't throw) and takedowns (of which Nog's are terrible).

He's really a complete fighter, who is younger, more powerful, bigger, and in all likelihood going to beat Nogueira convincingly tonight. With that said, I'm pulling hard for Nog, who should be a $300 underdog.

If Sylvia wins, it will be proof that God does not exist.

No, it proves that either

(1) Pride creates an illusion of dominance by feeding top fighters a daily dose of 3 cans to one real fight, or
(2) Proof that Pride fighters are overrated and there were rampant steroid use over there.

Lets not bring up the Spider and Rampage as evidence of Pride fighters dominating because those two earned their dominance in the US whereas the elite fighters who falter in the UFC came over at the top of their game.

In either case, we shouldn't assume any top ranked fighters from Japan will make a big splash when they come over.

Having said that, I hope that Nogueira proves me wrong.

Noguiera being the favorite in spite of possessing none of the skills needed to beat Big Dim is proof that PRIDE bias is far from dead.
