  1. 45 Huddle says:

Jeremy Horn vs. Nathan Marquardt for UFC 81. Not the greatest of fights, but pretty darn good considering less then a months notice.

  2. Dave2 says:

Horn is definitely worthy of fighting in the UFC. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t keep him around actually.

  3. I’ve always liked Horn. Hopefully he’ll put up some kind of resistance.

  4. Fan Futbol says:

The Melvin Guillard interview has to be read to be believed.

    FF

  5. Pontus says:

    Good to see Horn back.

UFC-185 being the weakest division in the ufc its still pretty good.

(A.Silva, Franklin, Marquard, Okami, Mcfederies, Maia, J.Mcdonald, Almeida, Belcher, Lister, Tanner, Bisping, Kampmann, Horn, Leites, Leben, Lutter, Martin, Grove and Terrell.)

Oh and Melvin seems like a really nice guy in that interview.. Articulate and respectful!

  6. catch says:

Tough fight for Horn on paper, I don’t know that he can beat Marquardt at anything.

I hope Hazzard gets his job back, the way he was fired was a disgrace.

  7. Oh man, that Guillard interview was great.

  8. garth says:

    The article on Perez says:
“In fledging fight clubs such as the International Fight League (IFL) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), there is a greater need for cut men such as Perez, for veterans with experience.”

I’m not sure what the writer’s talking about there…

  9. Tomer Chen says:

Regarding the Guillard interview, all I can say is: “Cocaine is a hell of a drug.”

  10. Zeppelin says:

When is Crocop going to realize that training with his old European K1 connections isn’t going to get him anywhere? He did that before his last match with Kongo. He needs to come to the US and train with a diversified team and not with kickboxers. Maybe it is true, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

  11. D.Capitated says:

    The article on Perez says:
“In fledging fight clubs such as the International Fight League (IFL) and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), there is a greater need for cut men such as Perez, for veterans with experience.”

Ummm, MMA organizations need to get cutmen because there’s like, only a couple good ones?

  12. Jonathan says:

Horn not fighting in the UFC has more to do with Horn not wanting to fight then the UFC not wanting him. Horn has always been independent-minded and fights when and where he wants to.

  13. Zack says:

    Horn/Marquart is an excellent fight.

  14. Ivan Trembow says:

    Ridiculous statement of the day:

““Thirteen new states regulated MMA last year and Hawaii is one of them, so we want to come there, but the regs aren’t done yet. We’re not like all these other ‘cheese ball’ shows; we can’t go there until the regs are done.””

    — Dana White, on a conference call to promote the UFC’s show in unregulated, unsanctioned England

  15. 45 Huddle says:

    Ivan,

I know you hate Dana White, but you are grasping at straws man.

I think Zuffa & Dana White’s stance on this has been constant for a long time. That is there is the potential for regulation in a state, they will wait it out until full regulation becomes available. Hence Hawaii and their wait on running an event in Chicago for so long.

However, where there is no regulation in place, and likely has no chance of having any in the future…. Then they will still are willing to run a show, such as England, Japan, and so forth.

And to add to my previous statement….

That logic makes sense. They don’t want to lose business in countries by waiting a lifetime for regulation that will never come. But in America, it is obvious that regulation will come, and therefore it is better to wait until things are done right before going into that state.

  16. Dave2 says:

Ivan Trembow works for MMAweekly. It’s his job to be a media watchdog for MMA promotions, especially the top dog. If you want media lapdog commentary, read some Kevin Iole.

  17. The Gaijin says:

Yeah what a bunch of cheese balls Icon Sport and ROTR really are, they couldn’t draw flies with shit! Those losers!

Hawaii has been running shows for years, to act like its some po-dunk state that doesn’t know it’s ass-from-its-elbow is ridiculous.

Just another case of Dana “I speak without thinking” White talking out of both sides of his mouth. Plain and simple.

  18. Skwirrl says:

    45 Huddle,

We know you’re really Kevin Iole.

You can come out of the closet now

  19. tannerfan says:

gotta love Trembow. It’s like a big 8 sided silhouette shines on the sky every time Dana White says something goofy, and *BAM* he’s here to make sure no-one missed it.

  20. klown says:

When Dana White is criticized, it takes 45 Huddle less than 30 mins to fire off a heated defense.

  21. Ivan Trembow says:

First of all, I like to point it out whenever anyone says something “goofy,” and it just so happens that Dana White has provided a lot of fodder in that regard. I have also appropriately pointed it out when Gary Shaw gets the ole’ foot-in-mouth disease, such as when he says that Antonio Silva is now the #1 heavyweight in the world, or that KJ Noons is now the #1 lightweight in the world, or when he talks about how great Kimbo is.

The statement that the UFC made to the media for many years was that they would never run shows that weren’t regulated and sanctioned, and that “unlike the previous owners,” they would “run towards regulation, not away from it.”

The statement was never, “We won’t run unregulated, unsanctioned shows in America,” it was, “We won’t run unregulated, unsanctioned shows.”

I assumed that kind of hypocritical language would subside once they started to regularly hold unsanctioned, unregulated shows in the United Kingdom, but apparently not.

PS: If an eight-sided silhouette ever did shine in the sky, it’s likely that Zuffa would sue it for being eight-sided…
