Video of the Day – Mirko Cro Cop does the Hustle

By Zach Arnold | January 1, 2008

Setting the scene: Ryoji Sai & Erica (the legendary Aja Kong) are facing Kintarman (Kintaro Kanemura) & Kurodaman (Tetsuhiro Kuroda) in a Dynamite Hardcore Hustle weapons match. The last time Kintarman & Kurodaman participated in this match format (Hustle Mania on 11/25 at Yokohama Arena), their ‘weapon’ of choice was Mark Hunt coming to the ring. After Kintarman & Kurodaman won their match with Hunt’s assistance, they performed the Brief Brothers dance made famous during Kanemura’s days in FMW.

In this NYE match, Erica summons Mirko Cro Cop to the ring to be her weapon. Poor Kurodaman. Now is not the time for antipathy.

  1. [...] or you don’t have Flash installed. Okay, here’s the backdrop for the above video, according to FightOpinion. [...]

  2. Shane says:

Good to see Crocop back on the winning side once again…

  3. Kev says:

    hmm, board shorts.

  4. Zurich says:

Haha, makes me think of a Final Fantasy summoned monster. Cro Cop > Bahamut!

  5. Jonathan says:

Man…he really nailed that high kick! I wonder if he trains it like that (too be worked) or if he just threw it up there.

  6. David says:

“Good to see Crocop back on the winning side once again…” – OUCH!!! lol

Notice the Japanese mark in the beginning, aka the first cut to a “person” from the audience. Either that dude was on meth, or CORPORATION (Hustle) slipped some uber-pumped up fan drug i nto his juice!!!

  7. Liger05 says:

nice suplex and great high kick. New Japan should offer him a deal to train in the dojo.

  8. CroCop looks like he was half asleep. At least his mic skills are getting better. :)

  9. His kick looked healthier than anything he threw in the Kongo fight.

  10. Dedwyre says:

I’m still disappointed that Josh Barnett never ended up appearing in HUSTLE like he was rumored to last year. I guess it’s still possible. Maybe he’ll be under a mask like Cole-Man and Randle-Man.

  11. Stevie J says:

More power to him. He’s probably better off in mock combat these days than stepping back inside the Octagon again. His MMA career had its last great peak way back in 2006 and it’s been all downhill since.

  12. Seth says:

Cro-Cop got the invitation because he’s still a huge figure in Japan. It has nothing to do with him “getting his kicks somewhere” or settling for mock combat over real combat (his training is obviously being taken very seriously), it’s about them loving him and vice versa. To an extent, the same reason Fedor did the showboat NYE fight with Hong Man Choi in Japan.

I thought Cro-Cop looked pretty good there, actually. Far stronger than he’s been in years, hopefully it’ll give him something of an edge in the UFC’s far larger HW division.
