Closure for Ed Fishman lawsuit

By Zach Arnold | August 1, 2007

Print Friendly and PDF

By Zach Arnold

According to public court records in Clark County, Nevada, an order of dismissal with prejudice was issued in the Fishman Companies vs. DSE Inc. lawsuit on July 25th (last Wednesday). It was a five-page document. In other words, a settlement has been reached and no further litigation will take place between the two parties on matters brought up in the initial complaint.

Unless a source close to DSE or Zuffa reveals how much UFC paid for the PRIDE asset sale, we’ll never know what the business figures were. Furthermore, no witness depositions took place or were made public (which could have contained some interesting information about true MMA insider hardball tactics).

Is this a surprise to anyone? The whole beans being spilled was never really going to happen

  2. Grape Knee High says:

Not to mention beans unrelated to Fishman (ie, anything to do with DSE’s Japanese operations).

  3. klown says:

    Too bad…

  4. K. Fabe says:

This is why the mainstream media never picked up on this one … all the reporters realized this was your run-of-the-mill fight business dispute and would never see the light of day.

Hopefully someone will do an an interview with Fishman soon

  7. 45 Huddle says:

An interview will likely do nothing. Most of those settlements include a clause that they can’t talk about the outcome or details.

  8. doem says:

this is why golden parachutes happen people
it is a lot less costly to pay your ex-exec off instead of having him/her sue you for some version of breach of contract

I wonder if this kind of think exsists in japan

  9. Ivan Trembow says:

I think it’s safe to assume that a key part of the settlement was that nobody involved in the settlement can ever talk about the settlement publicly or privately.

  10. chis says:

Yokozuna Asashoryu playing Soccer ?,i thought Rugby be more suited for him.

  11. Dru Down says:

First rule of the settlement: you do not talk about the settlement.
