Putting the ass in ‘no class’

Surprise! What response would you expect to hate speech being pointed out? Within minutes of posting a nasty thread as a backlash towards this site pointing out hate speech, the poster(s) were immediately backtracking and asking for moderators to delete it. Screen capture here.
With news breaking this week that legal action is pending from Ed Fishman towards PRIDE, it’s been quite an interesting situation to see how the hardest of the hardcore PRIDE marks on the Sherdog message board would react. (For my viewpoint on the hardcore PRIDE fans on Sherdog’s board, read the infamous Echo Chamber article).
Given past experiences reading the Sherdog message boards, it has been predictable to figure out what kind of response would be produced. However, even the Sherdog message board has found a way to reach new lows. Notwithstanding the few posters that have actually addressed the Fishman/PRIDE situation in logical terms (threads here, here, here, and here), take a look at some of the replies posted.
Hate speech at its worst. Anti-Semitism and encouragement of physical violence. (In the words of Eddie Goldman, there’s some anti-social behavior for you). The irony about the latter is that many of the PRIDE fans on the Sherdog message board have echoed what PRIDE Japanese management in the past has claimed, which is that PRIDE has no ties to organized crime. However, apparently, some of these Sherdog posters have decided to bluntly suggest that perhaps it’s a good thing that they think PRIDE is allegedly tied to organized crime.
